I would give this place zero stars if I could. It's horrific. I don't understand how they can claim to be a ****************** They denied my claims without any reason, their customer service is terrible, and they renewed my subscription multiple times even after I had called to cancel. Mr. ***************** be advised that pursuant to the membership guidelines, the use of the emergency room at the hospital is for serious emergent medical issues only and that non-emergent medical needs should be treated at an urgent care facility or in a primary care physician's office. The conditions for which you presented to the ** were not life-threatening in nature and as such were ineligible for sharing. Additionally, your membership had a $2500 member responsibility amount due before sharing in any of your medical needs. You also had not met your member responsibility amount. We understand that a health care sharing ministry is not for everyone. We wish you the best and hope that you have found a health care solution that meets your needs.Review fromPatricia S

If you could rate a 0 I would!Horrible!! Paid over $524 as I needed coverage on 8/2/24. Over one month later still waiting for my ID card!Called and asked if my provider was part of the network as I cannot afford additional charges and fees. I was told the concierge department would follow up with me in ***** hours and one week later still waiting for the ********* canceling this scam of a company and filing a complaint for reimbursement with the Attorney General as well!Close this business!Altrua HealthShare

I was pressured and manipulated into opening an account with **********************. I was not informed it was part of a ministry nor that it is not health insurance until I had already given them my credit card information and social security number. They would not give me a phone number to call back or detailed information about what the policy entailed until after I gave them my money. Then, I was told I could cancel the subscription. I called an hour later after reading the fine print and told them I wanted to cancel and they informed me that someone else from the company would call me 3-5 days later to "confirm" that my account is cancelled, but if I didn't answer, then the cancellation wouldn't be confirmed. This is a total scam, avoid at all costs..Altrua HealthShare

Please understand that the person who offered you an AHS Membership was not an employee of AHS but was an Independent Representative (IMR). Altrua HealthShare is NOT insurance and is NOT an insurance company, nor does Altrua represent our Membership as such. AHS is a health care sharing ministry (HCSM) that facilitates member-to-member sharing. All Members monthly contributions are deposited into an Escrow Account from which all eligible medical needs are shared on a member-to-member basis.Additionally, AHS is a nationally recognized faith-based HCSM through by the Centers for ******** & ******** Services (CMS). We've had the most frustrating and awful experience with this company. We sought for Reimbursement and requested funds in the first weeks of my wife's accident. That was over 16 months ago. We've paid for several of the bills, far beyond the portion required for the Diamond Plan and Altrua still hasn't paid their portions or reimbursed us. As the threat of collections came we eventually paid all of the hospital bills and any amount due that we knew of for individual doctors or MRIs. Their delays and system seems criminal to us at this point. We are still trying to get reimbursed and it has now been over 2 years.Altrua HealthShare

Altrua is a scam. They dont even deserve a 1/5. We were members for years and their ambiguity and deceitfulness is beyond words. In most recent events, our son broke his arm and Altrua has manipulated, lied, avoided, and ignored our coverage leaving us exposed to a hospital and their collections department. We have paid the *** in full plus a thousand dollars extra and Altrua still is avoiding their responsibility. Altrua staff play dumb by telling us they lost files or didnt receive files. They claim to be making payment to the hospital and suddenly checks are lost in transit. This is not a ********* or a reputable business. This is a clown show. We have the most expensive plan you can buy at around $900 monthly and it gets you nothing but stress and neglect. My wife has been spending hundreds of hours talking to Altrua team who all claim docs are missing or have no knowledge. Its like dealing with idiots and unprofessional jokesters daily. They blame everyone but themselves. They offer no support. Every answer is ambiguous. Anyone that uses them needs to know that your premiums are going up in smoke. This isnt a health share. Its a scam where to you pay and trust and find out you have zero coverage and support. Run away as fast as you can.Altrua HealthShare

Altrua HealthShare is a nationally recognized faith-based **************************** through The Centers for ******** & ******** Services that consists of individuals and families across the nation. Our Membership is a collaborative community of health-conscious people, providers and members dedicated to honoring God while improving healthcare by Caring for One Another.
After an investigation into your allegations, we have found that all eligible medical needs related to your sons accident have been processed accordingly and checks have been sent out. The check which you stated was lost in transit, was reissued and sent to the provider. According to your specific membership, each member of the household has a 1st MRA (Member Responsibility Amount) of $500, which is the amount that each individual member is responsible for paying to the provider or facility before the Membership will share in eligible medical needs. Additionally, each member of the household must meet a 2nd MRA of $2500, which is the percentage each member is responsible for paying after the 1st MRA is met. The membership shares simultaneously in any eligible medical needs as the members 2nd MRA is being met. To date, all eligible medical needs related to your sons injury have been processed and appropriately applied to the 1st and 2nd MRAs and any eligible medical needs have been shared in accordance with the Membership Guidelines. Please understand that Altrua Ministries (dba Altrua HealthShare) is NOT an insurance company nor is the Membership offered through an insurance company. Members are self-pay patients. In 2014 Altrua HealthShare received its recognition as a **************************** recognized by the Centers for ******** &Medicaid Services (CMS). As a result, the members of Altrua HealthShare have the security of being members of a recognized ****************************.Altrua HealthShare is a **************************** that is a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization that facilitates the sharing of eligible medical needs between members. Our Membership is for anyone who believes in living a healthy lifestyle and can agree to our Statement of Standards. We care about our Members, but eligible medical needs must meet a status indicating that the Member has met the conditions that qualify for sharing as described in the Membership Guidelines. If there are medical needs that result from actions contrary to those conditions, those needs may be deemed ineligible for sharing.

Altrua is not an insurance company, they are a Ministries aka religious entity. Part of your money goes to the "Ministries" as a donation. They do not tell you this UNTIL after they take your money from your account and when you try to cancel well before the stated 10day period you get the run-around. It's been 17 day's since I have tried to cancel and get a refund, and nothing.Altrua HealthShare

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.We apologize if the Independent Member Representative (IMR) did not clearly explain the nature of the Altrua HealthShare membership. However, it was you who signed up your husband for membership. In doing so, you filled out an application which stated in numerous places that Altrua HealthShare is not an insurance company and that our memberships are not an insurance policy. You acknowledged each disclosure regarding the Memberships Statement of Standards and Member Commitment to live a clean and healthy lifestyle and you also affirmatively acknowledged the statement, I understand that Altrua HealthShare is not insurance. As for cancellation, because you put the membership in your husbands name only, when you called to cancel, our representatives could not process the cancellation without authorization from your husband. Our policies and procedures regarding cancellation and changes in membership accounts have been put in place to protect our members. Your husband then cancelled his membership, and a confirmation was sent to you on 1/5/24 via email and your full refund was issued on 1/8/24. Let this be a warning to everyone. Altrua is not an insurance company.They do not pay for claims. Your prescriptions will not be honored.If you cancel they will make you jump through hoops to get the refund.My last contact after cancelling with them was we need a copy of your current insurance card.That has nothing to do with my cancellation.I would be embarrassed to say I worked for Altrua.They pressure you into why you cancelled. During the application process to become a member of Altrua HealthShare, you filled out an application which states in multiple places that Altrua HealthShare is NOT an insurance company and that our memberships are NOT an insurance policy. You also acknowledged each disclosure regarding the Memberships Statement of Standards and Member Commitment to live a clean and healthy lifestyle and you affirmatively acknowledged the statement,I understand that Altrua HealthShare is not insurance. The Membership that you signed up for did not include prescriptions but instead offered discounts. Altrua absolutely does share in our active members eligible medical needs as we have for the past 25 years. Because you cancelled your membership prior to its effective date, your statements that Altrua does not pay claims and your prescriptions will not be honored are unsubstantiated statements made by someone who was never an active member.
Your Membership has been cancelled and a full refund was processed on 12/9/23. We understand that a health care sharing ministry is not for everyone. We hope that you found a health care solution that suits your needs.
