Hello, I had outpatient surgery at southern New England surgical center March 12th 2020. I was told my out of pocket cost would be 1700 dollars. I then received a bill for 26,000 dollars. They told me after that my insurance will not cover steward health care. Someone in their authorization department had to make an error. i should have been notified before my surgery, I would not have had the surgery there. I have been trying for months to get in touch with someone higher up at steward health care and have not had anyone return my calls or emails. This has now gone to collections and is decreasing my credit score. I am not sure what the next step is.
      Thank you,

The staff at Steward Medical in Beaumont, Texas, located at 2929 Calder Ave., Suite 100, collected my $25 co-pay even after I explained to them that my deductible for the year had been met and that my maximum out-of-pocket for the year had been met. They DEMANDED that I pay my co-pay via credit card and now they are refusing to credit my co-pay back to my credit card and are demanding that i wait to use my $25 next year and that's not right! I even had my insurance to call Steward and they spoke with, Vicki, the rude office staff, and she stated 'They knew that my out-of-pocket max had been met but THEY COLLECTED MY CO-PAY ANYWAY and NO THEY WOULD NOT BE ISSUING MY REFUND!' This action by Steward is 100% wrong, unethical, bias, and greedy!! I want my $25 co-pay refunded this year.

I had surgery back in February of this year. I paid close to $1,000 up front. Later, as the insurance company processed the claim, it was determined that I was owed some of that money back because my wife's medical claims had caused us to reach our out of pocket max. Later, it was determined that I was owed all of that money back. Due to the need for a second review to reach this conclusion, insurance made two payments. The first payment processed successfully. The second payment was made near the end of April. The insurance company has confirmed that it was sent electronically and even provided a tracking number.Mountain Point Medical Center, part of Steward, has repeatedly claimed that this payment was never received. I've confirmed with the insurance company several times that it has and passed **** information along. At this point, both parties have admitted that I am due a refund. Steward will not send it over until they receive the second payment, which was sent back at the end of April. At this point, if there is an issue, it is between Mountain Point Medical Center (Steward) and the insurance company. My money needs to be returned to me.I have both my receipt and the updated EOB, but I'm hesitant to attach them for public view. If the BBB needs to contact me to see them, I'm more than happy to provide.Slight edits were made to comply with BBB's request to not include personally identifiable information, but I can also provide the exact dates of surgery, the exact amount due, and the date the second payment was made by the insurance company.
