On September 12, 2017, BBB Serving North Central Texas requested that the business substantiate, modify, or discontinue claims made on the company’s website to comply with BBB advertising standards. The business advertises, “Save up to 50% on utility bills.”

According to the BBB Code of Advertising, “Where a savings claim (for example, ‘save up to 40%’) covers a group of items with a range of savings, the number of items available at the maximum savings must comprise a significant percentage, at a minimum 10%, of all the items in the offering, unless local, state or provincial law requires otherwise.”

The BBB Code of Advertising also states that, “Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.”

While the business initially responded to BBB|NCTX, as of April 11, 2023, the business has subsequently failed to make the requested modifications to their advertised claims or provide the requested substantiation materials.
