I am filing a complaint against Allmand Law Firm regarding my Chapter 7 bankruptcy. I paid this firm $2995.00 and was guaranteed this was the best thing to do after initial consultation, however nothing has been done regarding my case --- I started a payment plan with the firm back on July 2024 was told if I was not satisfied then it could be money back guarantee Well I went ahead and did the payment plan and paid off in March 2025. This company is intentionally stalling in trying to provide an end to my bankruptcy. Im constantly uploading paycheck stubs, Bank accounts, any documents over, uploading information for my daughter paystubs, because I live with her. I can understand uploading information for a spouse but nevertheless this company has basically taken my $2995.00 and has NOT DONE anything regarding a bankruptcy. I even signed the Declaration for electronic filing of Bankruptcy Petition for the US Bankruptcy Court document. This was supposed to be the last document to be given and my case was supposed to go to court. No, then this company asking for another Profit and Loss of 6 months --- Why? Because they want to keep stalling and not provide the client with what they actual paid for. They just want to take a person money. This has gotten out of control, and Im upset that this company has not been loyal enough to file anything pertaining to my case. Im asking anyone who uses this firm run the other way this company is a fraud and for a year, nothing has been done but uploaded documents, over and over. I am not satisfied and at this point I would like some type of refund at least 1/2 of what I have already paid this firm.

We're very sorry to hear that this former client of ours is going through these hard times and we wish him the best of luck going forward.  We were able to resolve the dispute, and we hope that he gets back on his feet again soon.  It should be noted, however, that it is our policy to have our clients electronically sign a retention agreement at the outset of the representation, which is what happened here.  We have the signed retention agreement in our possession and it is typically when the signed retention agreement is returned to the firm that we begin working on the case file.  Nevertheless, we were able to resolve this dispute with our former client, and we are happy to have helped.

We obtained Allmand law to represent us in a bankruptcy. We obtained them a year ago and we have never heard from a paralegal or lawyer yet. They have taken $2000 and just ghosted us. We have steadily received calls from creditors and have had no representation as we were promised. Nothing has been handled on our case at all. The only communication we have had with them at all was our consultation call and text reminders for payments. We are asking for refund being that they have done absolutely nothing for us so that we can obtain new counsel and finally have our stuff settled. This company has been a huge scam all the way around.

They need to be investigated by the ************************ (***) and ****** for false advertising. They blantanly spammed the Goolge profiles with junk images so real paying customers ( victims) cant voice their opinion. Here is a link to the Texas Bar to report them, and judging by the more honest Yelp reviews it shouldnt be too hard:***************************************************************************************************************************** Would avoid this law firm as they will do a 360 and stop communicating as soon as you pay them. I have ZERO debt and someone with no debt is not a candidate for bankruptcy. As such, I inquired about a lien on my property. I explained this in the initial inquiry (1), the phone call to schedule the consult (2) as well as the 1 hr consultation (3). I explained my entire situation and emphasized the lien situation 5x on record, because as common sense tells you, no debt = no bankruptcy. I have no idea why I would be led along a 4 month endeavor for some lawyer to tell me what I already know. There is no justification for sitting me down and taking my money for you to tell me zero new information. I would avoid this firm as they seem to care only about themselves. I called, emailed, got second opinions within the same firm asking the one thing I came to see them. There is no rationale for the lack of accountability and miscommunication. There is no reason I should have been sat down if this is something that the team could not help me with, its like me coming here with a personal injury case... I should have been turned away from the start. Ridiculous and unprofessional. The lawyer *********** ******** was so rude an disrespectful to my father, mockinng him for not knowing english and berating us for trying to translate. It was a humilating ordeal. May God have mercy on such people, he was a sad human being. Never smiled or gave a care.I have a whole 1 hr recording of me and my family being lied to.

After receiving this complaint, we promptly reached out and were able to speak directly with the individual who submitted it, who confirmed he is the son of our client.

During our conversation, we appreciated the opportunity to clarify the current status of the case and provide additional context about the documentation we need in order to move forward, particularly regarding the lien and related debts.

We also took time to review the concerns raised and shared some clarification around the bankruptcy process, including how liens and medical bills are addressed. The complainant was receptive to this information and expressed appreciation for our efforts to connect and resolve the matter.

To ensure a positive resolution, we agreed to a resolution with the complainant, which the complainant accepted. We are glad we were able to reach a resolution and appreciate the opportunity to work directly with the family to address their concerns.

Allmand Law firm has not communicated with me throughout my filing. They have ignored my requests until threatened with legal actions. After paying them I was told I had to do the work myself. Information for my bankruptcy was not implemented and I was told I had to again pay for each account after I listed all my debts and debtors. I was charged way more than first quoted and over charged for the price of my filing.

Discussed anticipated delays with the *** and recommended appropriate actions to ensure compliance. The client has been informed of the process moving forward and knows how to reach out with any further questions. We remain committed to assisting through the remainder of the Chapter 13 process.

I am filing a complaint against Allmand ******* regarding a delayed refund of $300.00 that I was promised on February 13, 2025. After following up on February 20, 2025, I was told that the refund had only been processed that day.I have since received a receipt for the transaction, but I have not yet received the funds, and I am increasingly concerned that this is a deliberate delay rather than a standard processing time. The inconsistent communication from the company makes me feel as though they are intentionally stalling instead of resolving the matter.I am requesting the BBBs assistance in ensuring that Allmand ******* follows through on this refund without further delay. Specifically, I would like:1.Proof of the actual transaction date, not just a receipt.2.Confirmation from the payment processor or bank that the refund has been sent.3.A firm date by which the funds will be deposited into my account.I appreciate your help in addressing this issue, as I believe this delay is unnecessary and unfair. Please advise on any further action I can take if the company does not resolve this matter promptly.

There was an unintentional delay in processing this refund request. However, we maintained consistent communication with our client prior to receiving this complaint on 2/24/2025. As of today (2/24/2025), the client has confirmed that the refund was fully processed on 2/22/2025 and is already reflected in their account. We sincerely apologize for the initial delay and remain committed to providing continued support to our client as needed.

Paid $1500 directly to file chapter 13 The paralegal paid no attention to my statement that the budget not adding up and i didnt want to file yet. Attorney also said student loans would be included which was a lie but also didn't listen to me when I said the budget didn't work. Paid over $4000 to the trustee and my case was dismissed because the budget didn't work for the judge either. After finding out my case was dismissed the attorney told me the trustee could make more payments out of my account or refund it to me. But instead turned around to file a motion that my balance be sent to them. $2500 sitting my account will now only be sent to the attorney since that motion was filed. Still no accounting of the other $1500 that was paid in as well. The attorneys office only said they earned that money with filing, setting a trustee meeting, phone calls, and virtual appointments with me. Not sure what the initial $1500 was for but the last part of the payment they feel fully entitled to now is supposed to be paid out during the course of the bankruptcy which they obviously didn't work too hard at since they just pushed it thru without regarding my concerns to the budget.

I was disappointed there at the end when I decided not to file and asked for a refund. I know $3000 worth of work wasnt done only 3-4 phone appointments. I read reviews about the company not wanting to REFUND. That is correct I was offered credit for future then i was upset then offered $375 I was asked why do I think I deserve a refund, I said I know $3000 worth of work wasnt done and I basically begged for the $1500 refund and I wanted $2500 since credit was $3000 so I took the $1500 so I COULD GET SOMETHING BACK.They know what they are doing my son is disabled has downs and I didnt think it would have ended this way. I was told GOOD LUCK AND THE CREDITORS HAVE MY BANK INFO AND A LIEN MIGHT HAPPEN. But you keep 1/2 my money. I live one place son lives in ********** and I pay rent in both places and I thought this was the way to go with the consultation but NO IM $1500 more in debt I KNOW this FIRM could have done better and ethical with extremely difficult circum

We take all of our clients' concerns very seriously and a continued commitment to customer service is something that drives this firm in every aspect of our business. It is understandable that a client feels like "We have done nothing" when they cancel before their ultimate goal, which is the filing of their Bankruptcy Petition and the discharge of their debts, but this simply isn't the case. We have represented this client since June of 2024, fielding creditor calls, verifying representation, processing incoming documents, preparing the initial petition,  and meeting with them several times to usher them through a successful filing

Our goal is to consistently provide a streamlined process for the preparation and filing of our clients' cases.

After discussion with ******* ****** and a review of their concerns, we believe we have a achieved a resolution that is satisfactory to all parties and remain committed to assisting ******* ****** if there is any assistance we can provide in the future.

It is understandable that a client feels like "We have done nothing" when they cancel before their ultimate goal, which is the filing of their Bankruptcy Petition and the discharge of their debts, but this simply isn't the case. As outlined in our retainer agreement, once a client retains our firm, the firm re-reviews all intake documents, client's information, and perform other administrative tasks associated with opening a client's file.

I have been making monthly payments to Allmand Law for quite some time. It is part of their agreement to not take action on the case until full payment is rendered. I only recently started looking into the details and legalities of a ch. 13 bankruptcy and discovered I do NOT even qualify to proceed! I contacted them to cancel payment and receive a refund. They are not transparent about case details and requirements. They just want money. The only conversation to be had with them is about payment. I want a full refund. If a claim should be made that they intend to keep a retainer fee I do not consent as any fee is negated when this firm did not do the due diligence to determine if I had the qualifications to proceed BEFORE taking my money. I will contact the ********************* if this isnt resolved immediately without hassle. An arranged conference call with the firm is unacceptable & should have been had previous to taking my payments. The paperwork from the firm' states that they do not work on my case until I complete payments conflicts with a limited refund offer. Resolution Desired: I am requesting BBB assistance to obtain a full refund. Given the firms statement that they had not begun work on my case, I am entitled to a refund. The lack of transparency and refusal to provide access to legal support have left me violated and misled. I hope for a resolution that reflects fair treatment from Allmand Law Firm. Do what is right! I have receipts for every payment made & re its of communication as well as copies of all signed documents. Refund can be remitted to the card on file ending in 7062.

We are pleased to report that we were able to reach this client and resolve this matter.  However, we would be remiss if we did not strongly encourage others to refrain from making some of the same miscalculations as occurred here.  First, there is nothing in our agreement that says we will not do work for people until they are paid in full.  In fact, the Rules of Professional conduct would be violated if we did.  What our agreement does say, is that we will not actually file a new case until the pre-petition fees are paid in full.  Preparation for filing that case begins at the time of the initial consultation, which is when a case file starts to be constructed for all of our new clients.  This is often weeks or months before a client has paid their pre-petition fees in full.  Second, no one should try to make legal conclusions such as, "I do not even qualify to proceed," without the help of an attorney.  Several of our representatives tried to address that with this former client, but she was unwilling to engage on that subject.  It is worth noting that no information that she provided to this firm would support that conclusion.  Lastly, the reason our representatives wanted to talk to her about money is that she was requesting a refund.  Any refund request is going to start with a discussion of an accounting of services, but in this case, our former client was simply mistaken about how much money she had paid, which required a discussion about payments.  We wish her all the best in the future.

I have reviewed the business response and accept this resolution.
**** and the accounting department were helpful and understanding and I have no complaint regarding the resolution. It is completely my own error for filing or attempting to file bankruptcy without due diligence. Do your research before filing bankruptcy. The firms response indicates no accountability or liability. If this were truly the case I wouldnt have received such prompt attention to the matter.  The issue at hand is such an eagerness to start accepting payments and continuously pursue clients for payment without full understanding of the case.
