To make a long story short. I paid my car off in December of last year. My bank sent my car title to my car insurance in January. However, my car insurance sent my car title this is business and they never sent it back. The car was considered totaled because it was stolen in 2021 but when it was considered totaled it was found by the high point police department. My car insurance gave me the option to keep it. Im not asking for money even though I should because my tags will be late. Im just asking for my car to be reregistered. I dont think people realize how serious this is. Its illegal to drive an unregistered car.Business Response

From my understanding the problem is getting solved today. I made some phone calls between USAA and CoParts. The title is being sent to my address. I cant say its 100% over until its in my hands but it does seem to be getting resolved. Just for political correctness the *** number is *****************. The lot number is 67770091.

My car was paid off. I put a lien on it for $7000. Back in Feb 2024. And making installments. My daughter had an accident in the car. The car was totaled. I called ****. They said they would pay the car off. They didnt know I put a lien on it. But I told them. When they checked the system. They couldnt find that I put a lien on it. Come to find out. ONE ************** put the wrong *** on the application. So I am paying the loan on the wrong ***. My daughter had the accident in Sept. **** and ***apart wont pay the loan off because the *** is wrong on the paperwork. But we have all the information showing since they put the wrong ***. Its still in our name. And its taking them over a month to get that fixed. I asked for my car back until they get this resolved. They denied me. And everyone has been lying. And if the end goal is to get the title. I asked them to just pay them off. But they refused. The paperwork is wrong at the loan office. Not with **** and co part. And they have been unprofessional and rude its more but too much to type.. I know all about paperwork and procedures. I even asked them to pay one main off and get the title. And thats what they dont understand. The vin is wrong with the loan company. Not them. I have attached what the loan company did with the incorrect *** and I have attached a copy of the original title with the correct vin and paperwork from the bank showing the behicle was paid off. And ****** ***** is my wife. And this has been going on since Sept. and I asked them to bring my vehicle back until this gets fixed and they refusedBusiness Response

I recently purchased a vehicle from Top Line Import through the Copart auto auction located in *********, **. After purchasing I had the vehicle shipped to ****************. Upon receiving the vehicle, it was evident that the condition of the vehicle had been knowingly misrepresented and falsified. While terms and conditions of the auction boil down to all sales being final and the car being sold as-is, there were fraudulent claims made by the seller. The report outlining the condition of the vehicle was clearly falsified and that is what I based my purchase decision on. There were many inaccuracies, but here are the primary issues that are blatantly incorrect: Moves Forward and Reverse under its own Power Yes Starts and stays Running Yes Transmission Shifts Normally in All Gears Yes Drives on the freeway at Speed Limit Yes Engine noise No Check Engine Lights are on No I don't desire to pursue any legal action and want to find an amicable resolution. While the fraudulent claims were made by the seller, Top Line Import, Copart represented the sale and is entirely unwilling to do anything to help resolve the matter. My desired outcome is simply that they would take the vehicle back, return any fees, and we go on our way. I am not seeking damages. I had no way to know prior to the purchase that the actual seller is rated F by the BBB. Because the seller is clearly engaged in poor business practices that rise to the level of consumer fraud, I believe Copart should make some effort to resolve the matter with the seller. There are 4 parties involved:Seller: Top Line Import (should be criminally liable for fraud)Auction: Copart (should assist with resolution)Broker: A Better Bid (should assist with resolution)Buyer: **** ********Business Response
Date: 11/20/2024
Dear **** ********,
In order to bid on a vehicle, prospective bidders must first create a Copart member account. ********************** does not sell Vehicles to non-members.
Our records reflect that this Vehicle sold to A **************, a registered broker (and member)not **** ********. Mr. **** ******** is not listed as an authorized cardholder with A **************, which means that he is not approved to speak to Copart regarding A *************** account or ***********************************'s ******* of contract extends solely to A **************, and A *************** privity of contract extends to **** ********. No direct business relationship exists between Copart and **** ********. Any concerns relating to the advertisement and/or sale of this Vehicle should be properly addressed to A ***************
Copart respectfully requests the BBB close ****************** complaint, as this sale only involves the broker and does not involve Copart in any way. We suggest the complainant contacts the broker where they bought the vehicle.
Thank you,
CopartCustomer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
While its true that I purchased the vehicle through a Copart-authorized broker, A Better Bid, it was sold through Copart and was released to the shipping company with my details included.
Copart is hiding behind technicalities and ducking the responsibility of representing the seller, Top Line Import, that is clearly involved in shady and dishonest practices.
I have reached out for legal advice and will pursue action if necessary, but multiple sources state that As-Is final sales are negated if fraud is involved and if details are knowingly misrepresented or falsified.
Im simply asking Copart to step up and help resolve the issue. The seller they represented obviously did the wrong thing. And with regards to be authorized to talk about it, I can provide ownership documents for the vehicle in question.

My car was declared a total loss and towed to the Copart in ***** IL by my insurance State Farm on or about October *******. My vehicle a ************************************** plate Q894389 was supposed to be locked and safe for me to pick up my personal items from the vehicle at a later date. When I went to pick up my personal items my car was empty. All of my items from the main cabin of the car were missing. The manager told me that it was procedure for all of the items from the main cabin to be taken and put in the trunk . My trunk was however empty of all but a few random items (i.e. snow brush . Wood plank, notebooks) my own rubber mats had been left in the main cabin. Someone had unscrewed and uninstalled a large JL Audio speaker box from the trunk of my car and taken it. My IL license plates both front and back were also missing. While I understand that Copart is not liable for loose personal items in my car, Someone had to actively detach my speaker system and license plates in order to take them . I have already filed a theft report with the police. I would like my possessions either returned or to be compensated for their loss.Business Response

I purchased a vehicle from here about 1 week ago that was labeled as it runs and drives. However, when I took it to THREE different mechanics, they all said that the engine was blown. I spent well over 3000 to get this car and was lied to in the report. When I called the business on several different attempts I didn't get any type of resolution. I really would just like a full refund, and they can have the car back.Business Response

In response to the claim asserted by Britttany Hill that was purchased at Coparts auction was misrepresent as Run & Drive. One of the prerequisites to establishing a member account with ********************** is agreement to Coparts binding Member Terms and Conditions. Ms. ***************** notes indicate that she consented to the Terms and conditions on 12/22/2023. The definition of Run and Drive when you see it on the website advertisement states:
At the time the vehicle arrived at Coparts location, Copart verified that the vehicle started, (ii)could be put into gear, and (iii) was capable of moving forward under its own power. There is no guarantee, representation, or warranty that the vehicle is in roadworthy condition or can be driven lawfully upon the highways of any state. There is no guarantee, representation, or warranty that the vehicle will start, (ii) drive, or (iii) move forward under its own power at the time the vehicle is picked up at Coparts location. It is the Members sole responsibility to ascertain, confirm, research, inspect, and/or investigate the vehicle prior to bidding on it. Once the vehicle is removed from Coparts premises, the Member accepts the vehicle as is
The R&D label does not guarantee that any vehicle is safe to drive without first undergoing repairs, nor does it guarantee that any vehicle will ever be roadworthy again. The R&D simply states that, at the time the vehicle was brought to a Copart yard to be prepared for auction, it could be started and moved forward a minimal distance under its own power. No guarantee is made as to the operability of an R&D vehicle at the time it is retrieved.
Our T&Cs point out that the information we provide is for convenience only, and that burden is placed upon the member to gather information on the vehicle prior to bidding on it. This information can be found at section I.A of our T&Cs and reads:

Had Ms. **** came out to inspect the vehicle before bidding she would have been fully aware of any issues associated with it. The webpage advertisement even provides a list of ******************* who for a fee will come out and inspect the vehicle and provide an in-depth report after the inspection. All these tools were available for Ms. **** to utilize, but she failed to use any of them. Accordingly, Copart rejects any and all demands Ms. **** has regarding a refund.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
1.) I just recently made the account so 12/22/23 is inaccurate regarding when I agreed to these terms.
2.) The vehicle was mislabeled. Run and Drive as explained by the business you started the vehicle and moved it forward. That cannot be possible. Vehicle was delivered to me and did not start without a jump. Further review the vehicle did not even turn over. When looked at by again THREE professionals the engine is blown.
3.) I find it odd that if you received the vehicle 10/22/24 and I buy it 11/1/24 that the vehicle no longer works.
4.) Failure on coparts end to fully do their due diligence and make sure this car was labeled correctly. In closing my point stands that copart did not do what they were suppose to do and sold a car that was incorrectly labeled. I should be refunded and again I can return the vehicle. It has been a hassle.

On October 8, 2024, my ************************ a minor collision. The impact occurred on the drivers side of the car, hitting the person at fault wheel on the passenger side. The main damage was the bumper, a bent grill, and a radiator. NO OTHER DAMAGE HAPPENED FROM THE COLLISION. Copart HELD the car for an appraisal from insurance. PHOTOS WERE TAKEN at the accident site and tow yard the day after the accident to ensure no new damage occurred. The initial appraisal from my insurance company on October 13 totaled $7,062.29. The parts mentioned in the estimate match up exactly with the damaged parts seen in the collision and insurance claimed the car was safe to repair and drive. When the insurance company ordered Copart to deliver the car to the repair shop, the car damage was DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT. On October 18, the car was missing the entire front bumper, the headlights and random wires were hanging, the radiator was missing, and THE FRAME WAS BENT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CAR. I immediately called my insurance company because the repair shop received an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CAR. It was very noticeable that the DAMAGES WERE FROM COPART. The insurance company and I tried to reach out several times but were IGNORED. Recently, a representative accused us of lying. This negligence increased the damages to $17,135.46 (October 30, 2024). The insurance cleared the repair shop to begin repairs, but it was noticed that the engine would not start. THE ***** FROM THE CAR WAS TAKEN OUT! The engine was cleared after the appraisal that happened at Copart, so the repair shop was confused noticing things were missing under my hood as well. A THIRD estimate was created, and the damages increased again to $20,608.68 (October 31, 2024) resulting in a TOTAL LOSS. Copart caused $13,546.39 worth of added damage to my car. I am a graduate student, and this company has caused me an IMMENSE amount of stress this past month due to their NEGLIGENCE. Copart will be sued if this is not resolved.Business Response

***** **** is not a customer of **********************. **********************'s customer in this matter is USAA, who assigned Kenya's vehicle to Copart as part of an insurance claim. Date: 11/12/2024
I am rejecting this response because: The additional damages done to the car occurred while at the Copart facility so this is DEFINITELY a marketplace issue. I initially contacted the insurance company to handle the dispute with you all. They directed us to contact you for the damages since you all FAILED TO RESPOND numerous times. You all STOLE PARTS from my car and are trying to cover it up with the same generic message you sent to many other people with the same situation. The parts of the car went missing after the insurance adjuster submitted the estimate on October 13 and you all didnt deliver my car until 4 days after insurance ordered you to send it to a repair shop. THESE DAMAGES ARE YOUR FAULT. Looking at the estimate and photos this is a very clear case. I have photo and video proof at the crash site, tow yard, and even photos from the towing company when Copart put the car on their truck before it left. So there is proof the additional damages had to occur IN YOUR POSSESSION. So, if you all do not want to settle this claim with me, then I am under the assumption you would like for me to proceed with legal action.Business Response
