Refund my card now please. Active is obviously fraudulently charging for services and acting like it's the consumer's fault. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS COMPANY OR REQUESTED ANY OF THEIR SERVICES. I signed up to receive free running-related emails in 2009 with active.com. These were free until active.com began charging me $89.95 on April 2 of 2021, 2022 & 2023. I never agreed to change my membership to a paid membership and never gave them my credit card number for an email newsletter, only to register for a charity run. The credit card company (Bank of America; today I spoke to Eman in ********) told me that a company can buy access to my current credit card data even if I havent given them my current credit card number. Today, April 2, 2023 is the very first time Ive received any notice of active.com charging any of my credit cards any subscription fees at all. I asked the credit card issuer, Bank of America, to refuse to pay the charges and they will not. They said when I agreed to the terms of free emails, active.com was allowed to change the terms and charge fees at any time, even if I dont agree or provide my credit card number to them myself. According to ****, it isnt fraudulent even if active.com has accessed my credit card information through some network used by **** and mastercard, as long as I once in the past gave it to active.com. (Once Ive told active.com to stop charging me, then further charges can be deemed fraud). Today is the first day active.com has actually notified me in any way that they were charging $89.95 to my credit card. I did not agree to be charged. They also charged this money from me on April 2 of 2022 and of 2021. I never received a message in either of those years. I only know I was charged by logging into my active.com account and reviewing a payment history. This payment history is a complete surprise to me, as I never agreed to pay $89.95 for emails. I did not authorize these charges. Ive emailed active.com seeking the refund of all three amounts. They charged my credit card even though the address on file with active.com has not been my address for several years.Business Response

The amount of $89.95 was recently charged to my bank account for ACT and I did not sign up for anything this is a fraudulent charge on my bank account and I would like to be reimbursed. I tried sending an email to the email listed as I did not sign up for anything/membership, but it says the email address is not valid. I would like them to cancel any memberships they think I have with them and reimburse the money ASAP. Thank you.Business Response

I was charged a fee of 89.99 that I didn’t authorize from Active and their website doesn’t offer live support and the number to call says they’re unavailable and it’s email only. On 2/27/23, I completed an online transaction to register my child for a summer camp at our local zoo. The zoo uses Active.com as its 3rd party vendor to complete the transaction. I received the receipt (attached filed) after the transaction was completed. Fast forward to today, 3/29/23, I received an email expressing my annual subscription to their service, when I clearly did not consent to it at all. ****** reviews are all unfavorable as the company is predatory and charges consumers (who have no choice but to use their service as part of a registration process for races and camps) without consent. I believe the company owes me a refund of $89.95 for an annual subscription that was charged to my bank card without my consent.Business Response

I have reviewed the business response and accept this resolution. My intention for my complaint was to spotlight this companys deceptive practice as a consumer had no choice but to use this vendor to complete my childs summer camp registration. Additionally, my accidental opt-in for a membership was never reflected on the receipt I received from both the summer camp and from this business.
