I purchased rebuilt motor from City Motors (*******) at ************, on 10-11-23, on my credit card. The engine was delivered to Mechanic, ****, ************, at ****************************************************. **** took possession of the rebuilt engine and released my old engine to men who dropped off the rebuilt engine. **** installed the engine and discovered a hole in it. City Motors replaced it with another rebuilt engine. Since the transaction I have made several attempts to get the refund credited to my account. On *******, I made numerous attempts to contact ******* via text and phone calls at ************; no response. I called City Motor number listed on the receipt, ************ at 4:18 pm and finally reached him. ******* said the refunded was not granted because they never received my old engine (core). I disputed it. The last text from ******* was 12-4-24 @ 11:18 am, saying he was trying to resolve it "today".I made a complaint with the attorney general's office last December. I didn't hear back from them. I forgot about making the complaint after my nephew ran away and I was consumed with concern for him. Then in April my rental property burned down - total loss. I have been engrossed with the process of dealing with an insurance company that has made the process unbearable, despite assistance with a public adjustor. I'm still embroiled in the fight with the insurance company and it has been absolutely overwhelming and consuming.

We would have been happy to refund your core credit if it would have been returned within our return policy. Unfortunately, this was way past the timeframe laid out in our warranty and return policies. We always honor our core deposit policies set in place. As far as we know, the engine runs great and has had no problems since.

      Thanks,

I am rejecting this response because:

I find it ironic that City Motors ignored my complaint to the BBB until after I contacted one of the local TV stations when they failed to respond by the deadline.  Prior to my notifying the TV station, City Motors ignored complaints made to both the Attorney General and the BBB.

The reality is that on December 22, 2023, I made the attached complaint to *** ******, the attorney general, regarding the refund owed by City Motors.  They did not respond to the complaint.  Therefore, the false claim that they did not receive a complaint in a timely manner is patently false,a complete misrepresentation of the facts.

They freely admitted that they did not refund payment for my core. Its insulting and frustrating that I must go to such extremes to get what is rightfully owed to me.

I originally had them replace my 99 suburban motor with one of their rebuilt motors they had in stock. The truck never ran good from the beginning. They attempted to fix the issue but it kept coming back running poorly and not sounding good at all. Once the warranty time ran out they washed their hands of my problem and told me they wouldnt work on it anymore. The truck has never ran right from the beginning!! All I want is for the truck to run the way its supposed to. Now I have to find and pay someone else to do the job correctly.

************** brought the vehicle in December of 2021.  We did the job.  He brought it back under warranty and we fixed it time and time again.  We stood behind our warranty as we always do but now we're 3 years later and it continues to have problems outside of our control.

We would be happy to fix the issue AGAIN if we are paid for our services.

      Thank you

I am rejecting this response because:   I dont see how the problem is out of their control. They built the motor and installed it. I replaced every part they recommended. It was back in their shop a month after the initial install. This motor has never been right from the very beginning. I cant see paying this company anymore money considering how much Ive had to come out of pocket for rental and ride share fees. They would have my vehicle for weeks at a time. They are more than welcome to fix it at their own cost. If they dont want to make it right my complaint will stand.

On October 17, 2022 we took an engine to City motor supply in *********** ***** for a complete engine rebuild. On Nov 18, 2022 we picked up the engine and paid invoice for $1840.25. We took the engine to ******** ***** to Gordo's tire and automotive for replacement, on Dec 8, 2022 we picked up the truck and paid *****'s $2679.85. We drove the truck home and noticed it had a miss. Took it back to Gordo's, they found the #1 cylinder was bad, low compression and was not seated properly. The piston was very sloppy. They removed the engine again, sent it back to City motor supply in *********** ***** where they fixed it. They covered the repairs for that. But not for Gordo's R&R. We had to pay *****'s another $1861.04 for the s**** up that City motor supply done. We spoke to the owner of City motor supply 3-8-2023. He said he will pay ONLY $400.00 on the R$R from *****'s. It was City motor supply that screwed up on the engine to begin with. I don't feel like we should have to pay for City motor supply 's error. Can you please help with this?

Per our conversation the customer, they agreed to accept $400.00 to resolve this matter. We fixed the issue free of charge and we believe we were not at fault. I am attaching a copy of the check made payable to *********************** and it has been cashed.
It is our understanding the customer has agreed to this resolution.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
If they would have fixed the motor RIGHT the first time, then we would not have had to pay the EXTRA ******* dollars for repairs the second time around. Yes, we cashed the check because it helped to pay PART of what was their responsibility. No, we do not accept their response.
