Ad Review
On January 1, 2024, the Better Business Bureau of Greater Houston and South Texas noted the following claims on the business’ website: “Sale Ending Soon! Up to 60% off” and “Quick shipping from USA! Securely boxed and delivered by USPS in 3-5 days.” The sale is still continuing as of March 1, 2024 indicated it is a continual sale, not a limited time offer. Additionally, complaints and reviews into the BBB claim the items purchased are never received, and shipping cannot be confirmed. These issues pertain to the following standards within the BBB Code of Advertising:
1. Basic Principles of the Code
Advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request. All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided.
9. Sales
9.1 The unqualified term “sale” may be used in advertising only if there is a significant reduction from the advertiser's usual and customary price of the products or services offered and the sale is for a limited period of time. If the sale exceeds thirty (30) days, advertisers should be prepared to substantiate that the offering is indeed a valid price reduction and has not become their regular price.
The business has not responded to the BBB to address any concerns thus far.
