I'm not liable for this debt with Exeter Finance. I do not have a contract with the collection agency trying to collection agency. They did not provide me with the original contract as requested. I paid this debt off in full, but it was written off as a charge of profit and loss. Exeter Finance was not legally authorized to charge or collect this debt. Specifically, they charged interest and or fees in excess of the legal limit. which constitutes a violation of applicable consumer protection and lending laws. I paid this account in full and any debt calculated based on an unlawful interest rate is invalid and unenforceable. I paid off this account not only is it still showing as a charge off in collections I was charges an illegal interest rate in order to pay off the vehicle in full after the car was stated to be charged off. I asked. Exeter Finance for my original contract before paying off this debt, but they never provided me with the contract. This act is unlawful and I demand this paid off debt be removed off my credit and I ask the bbb to investigate Exeter Finance for this unlawful act.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I have bank statements from the time i purchased my car until i paid it off that will show otherwise. In 2022 they reported that I didnt make any payments after a certain month for the rest of the year and so forth which was reported inaccurately. I will show your the original contract and all of my bank statements to show you I made the payments and that Exeter finance did not report the correct information on my credit and what they reported is inaccurate and for that reason I demand it must be removed from my credit entirely. I have the car title and bank statements, and the original contract. Please let me know where I can mail these documents to.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
I am filing a formal complaint regarding a car loan account reported by Exterior Finance that appears on my credit report with Experian. The reporting of this account contains inaccurate and damaging information, in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
Specifically, the account has been reported as delinquent and charged off continuously from 2022 to 2024, which is not true. While I acknowledge a temporary period of late payments between March through June 2022. March of 2023, I bought the account current after that period and continued making payments until I paid the car off. I currently still have the 2014 ***** Camaro and the car title in my possession. I am trying to get a new car, but the repo and charge off is the reason why Im being denied. Its also, impacting my credit in a major negative way. Despite this, the credit bureaus continue to report the account as delinquent and charged off for an extended period beyond what occurred.
This inaccurate reporting is harming my credit profile and may impact my ability to obtain fair lending terms. In 2022 Exterior Finance only reported two payments for the month of January and February. According to the fair credit act all credit reports must be fair and equal. They did not report the payments I made in July, August, October, and December. My bank statements prove that these payments were made to Exterior Finance, but they failed to report the payments were made.
I have attempted to dispute this with Experian, but I am also requesting that your agency investigate the lenders reporting practices and ensure they are held accountable under the FCRA.
I am requesting the following:
1.A full investigation into the inaccurate reporting by Exterior Finance.
2.Correction or removal of any false delinquency and charge-off data from July 2022 onward.
3.Written confirmation of the outcome and any corrective actions taken.
4.Requesting Repo, charge off, and inaccurate late payments be removed from my account.Your system won't let me attach my bank statements, because the file is too large.

This company is incorrectly reporting to the credit bureau I am late on a payment. My truck was wrecked March 9th. I also purchased *************. The insurance company sent a payment on March 24th to Exeter: I called a few days later to see if GAP had been applied to the balance. I was told it had not, but once it does, I will owe a little over $1000. Then I received a letter starting I needed to make a payment. I made a payment April 18. They are reporting April as 30 days. How when the payment for March was made plus over $34k was paid. This has significantly impacted my credit score and needs to be correctedBusiness Response

Today, May 17, 2025 after speaking with the ***resentative of Exeter Finance I was told that the address on file was Apt. D-26 and that she apologizes for the error and that she just changed it to the correct Apt. F-26 which I had given months ago. I asked that my paperwork's and check payment be expedited because of my need financially and due to their error. I thought company ***utation matter as well as their customers. I made my final payment to ********************** via my new loan company in April 2025, Exeter supposedly mailed me out paperworks showing my payment and closed account with them, and a final check payment of $213. I have on many occasions spoke with various ***resentatives ***** providing my address information needing information to be sent which was **************************************************************** Apt F-26, Charleston SC *****. The old address was simply an apartment change that once was Apt D-14. When I inquired today about my check not being received which I was told was mailed out on May 3, 2025, the *** told me that the address on file had apartment D-26, which is incorrect. I became angry because over the last month or so of inquiring about my account every *** asked me to verify my address. Why it was not confirmed that Apt. D-26 was incorrect? I gave them Apt. F-26, which is correct. The *** I spoke with today asked me did I get my close out paperworks, I told her I did not. She then placed me on hold, came back and told me it could take an additional 14 days or more for me to receive the paperworks or check; that it all had to be investigated. I am not pleased at all especially since I did everything required of me to Exeter Finance. I am not sure why the *** said my paperworks and payment could not be expedited. I think that it should because the error, the delay of me not receiving is on the end Exeter Finance.Business Response

I refinanced my car in November and they told me a different amount than what is on the contract and I didnt find that out untilI had my realtor look at it recently and they charged me $****** in interest, they only told me about the ****** that I would be charged they never told me that I would be charged ****** in interest and now theyre saying I owe them $******. I would have never used them if they told me thats how much they would be charging me. I wouldve kept my loan with the original people that I had it with. And when I look on my credit report, it never said ****** it says on there the amount that they told me that we discussed in there except the contract which thats not the same contract I signed.Business Response

THIS COMPANY IS UNLAWFULLY REPORTING ON MY CREDIT REPORT. No one has responded to me from this business about who opened the account. This account was not opened by me and I need to work with this business and law enforcement to get this account closed and find the right person who did this so they can be held accountable and it can stop showing up on my credit report and altering me from being successful! I cant get approved for anything because this is the only account negative on my credit report, I have never even heard of this business, I want a copy of the contract as requested via email and phone multiple times but I never received itBusiness Response
