    On July 19, 2024, I purchased a copy of The Lord of the Rings from this seller through ABEBooks.com. It was represented with misleading cover art; however, that was not of much concern when I received it. What did concern me was that the book I purchased was represented as NEW. Nonetheless, upon receiving the book, I found it to have glue on the outside of the cover and small amounts of water damage. I immediately contacted the seller for a refund, yet there was no response. I contacted the seller at least twice more, only to receive not response and no action toward receiving a refund for the book.I fear that this is among the multitude of shadowy dealers on ABEBooks.com that create numerous accounts in attempts to defraud customers.

    Hello,

    Thank you for reaching out to us. The customer who has filed this grievance was in contact with our support team regarding this issue as well. The customer contact us reporting that the product he received was damaged. Our customer service requested some pictures to assess the damage so that they may offer an appropriate resolution. The customer responded by stating that they had already sent the return and was unable to provide pictures. We accepted the customers declaration regarding the damage and processed a refund on 8/15/2024. We received this order through abebooks.com and processed the refund directly through their website. Abebooks.com will now refund the customer within 2-4 business days and all further correspondence must be directed to Abebooks.com customer service. We have not had any issues with abebooks.com refunding customers in the past and are confident that the refund would post back to the customers original form of payment promptly.

    I ordered a textbook through Amazon published by ********* I received a fake /counterfeit copy of the textbook. They denied it of course but the quality is subpar to be an elsevier product and the book has no access code and sticker of authenticity from Elsevier. The book was shipped from India *not that it means anything* but in Amazon they said ships from USA. I wrote an honest amazon feedback to warn other buyers however they are burying it with fake reviews.

    I purchased a book from Basi6 via AbeBooks.com. The sale listing for the book was as follows (copy/paste):

    Title: Matlab For Engineers 5Ed.
    Author: Moore
    Book Description: New.SoftCover International edition. Different ISBN and Cover image but contents are same as US edition. Expediting shipping for all USA and Europe orders excluding PO Box. Excellent Customer Service.

    I received a book with ISBN XXXXXXXXXX, not that listed in the ad. The ISBN is a book's unique identifier. Different ISBNs mean *a different book.* Their text description states "different ISBN and cover image....as US edition." Nowhere on the book I *intended* to purchase does it state "US edition," so I assumed the ISBN in their listing to be accurate. I received the "Global Edition," whose contents are NOT the same, when compared side-by-side with the book matching the ISBN of their ad.

    Again, the description states the ISBN for the book my college course requires. Stating "different ISBN" in the text without clarifying different from WHAT is not sufficient. The listed ISBN is for a book titled "MATLAB for Engineers." Nowhere does the publisher state this is a "US edition." It's just a book matching the title in the listing. The title and the ISBN in the listing match the book I need, and the description says "it's different from the US edition," which is listed nowhere on the book I need. All of this leads one to conclude *the book advertised for sale is the same book I am looking to purchase.* The International Edition has a different ISBN BECAUSE the contents are not the same. Why would the seller not list the accurate ISBN? Because their intent is to take advantage of their customers through unethical business practices. The seller should list the CORRECT ISBN in their ad. Nevermind the extremely slow "express shipping," or the snarky "excellent customer service" I've received. I want a full refund, and I believe they should correct their listings.
