My husband and I rented a couch from rent a center. I am disabled and sometimes cannot work and my husband started a new job which because he started his new job he hasnt gotten paid in a little over a month. I had 1 payment late, it was barely late and I was being harassed. I had numerous calls, texts, I had people come to my door, my payment wasnt even 10 days late ! I told them whats going on my husband got a new job and needed a little longer and Id make a payment. They said my payment was 30 days past due. I said no it wasnt I had paid to get my account at least one payment ahead when it started, was told my 100$ payment I used to start would be toward a payment and it wasnt. So I just paid and had paid one payment a head when my husband started his new job and fell behind. I told them Id pay On a date. When that day came I paid and brought my account to 5/6. My payment is 4 days late and Im already being majorly harassed beyond belief. I told them I will pay 2 payments on the 25th as my husband will get his check on the 25th. They said I agreed to bi weekly payments. I said yes hes paid the 10th and 25th which is bi weekly. H*** get his check on the 25th then after that the 10th. He said that wont work h*** just schedule to come get my couches and remove them then when I make a payment h*** schedule to re deliver them. I have severe anxiety / disabilities and he sent me into a panic attack and anxiety attack. I know someone who has a couch with you all whos 3 months behind and that location is working with them ! Im 4 days behind and by 5/25 will be 2 weeks behind and ** told they will come remove my couches. I am shocked by how Im being treated by your guys employee. No compassion or understanding at all. I will never use rent a center again after this and will warn my family and friends.Business Response

Acceptance Now transactions are not financing arrangements or loans. Acceptance Now purchases the merchandise selected by the customer from the host store, and then rents the merchandise to the customer through a terminable agreement that contains the disclosures as required by applicable law. Our District Manager has attempted to review the terms of the agreement with **************, and adjustment rental due dates to accommodate. Despite our best efforts to address her concerns, we are unable to reach a resolution to this matter. We request ************** to return our communications should she have further issues.

I am rejecting this response because: Of the poor customer service and the fact that this person found it ok to harass me after being less than 1 week late originally. I was in communication as to when I would pay the first time and was till harassed and to the point people came to my house and said I was more than 30 days late when I wasnt. Then I paid when I said I would. The second time, I was late, I said I would pay, was threatened to have my couches taken and re delivered the day I pay. Which makes no sense since I stated only reason fell slightly behind was due to a new job. I have spent thousands with rent a center in the past and never treated this way. I suffer from mental health diseases and due to the poor practice of this business and poor customer service and lack of empathy and understanding I suffered over an hour long anxiety / panic attack which also caused me to miss work. This is not ok and not how customers especially since Ive bought other items from rent a center in the past should be treated. This person should have to undergo training and I know someone who rents from rent a center and is 3 and a half months late and doesnt get this treatment.Business Response

Rent a center has failed to maintain an online portal and will charge late fees if the payment isnt called in. *** asked numerous times for the online portal to be fixed so payments can be made. Ive attached a screenshot of what its showing I have from this location. So what am I being charged for. The customer service reps at store ***** in ******** have no knowledge and are the rudest! Im making this complaint due to the online portal is in the contract I got an email that one of ************ was cancelled so I really have no idea where my money is going and how its being applied to the balance. 1st issue - I was promised a discount on my bedroom set agreement I found out when the last payment was made that it was never applied. The manager ***** offered to apply $1500 off my washer and dryer since she could no longer add it to the paid off bedroom agreement but could to the open washer and dryer agreement. 2nd issue- I was promised a discount on the washer and dryer upon delivery due to my wall, stairs being damaged while the items got delivered also the washer and dryer had dings and dents and scratches made upon delivery. I was never given a discount since they applied the discount for the bedroom set on the washer and dryer agreement. Final issue I ordered two e bikes but only one was delivered, in have waited 3 weeks for the second e bike my account was reflecting inaccurate payment amounts due. When I asked about the second e bike the manager ***** after more than 8 failed delivery attempts for a used and now new e bike decided she wanted to cancel my agreement for no apparent reason other than asking for an eta on second a bike delivery. I was given many promised dates prior always an excuse/ reasons why. I was told my agreements left may be transferred to another store so I may be better assisted.Business Response

I financed an asus gaming laptop from ************** ** rent a center last month the laptop they gave me had a bad battery it would be fully charged and die an hour after taking it off the charger. It was exchanged for an hp laptop. A few days after receiving the replacement laptop I took it out of the box to set it up and saw that it was damaged I called and spoke to the store manager *****. She was unhelpful and rude and said I needed to give it back or make a payment I agreed to give it back. I hadnt had a single call from them since a week ago today ***** calls me on her personal cell phone screaming and cursing at me she threatened me and then admitted to reading sensitive information that was left taped to my front door. I tried to explain to ***** I was not at home she continued to make crazy threats to me screaming like a lunatic she has stated that she would be retaliating against me because I did not agree to her terms of return I explained to her several times I was not home and that I would gladly return it Saturday and she basically threatened me into giving her my location which is a family members home. Not only was I given a damaged product but I was I was harassed and screamed at and threatened personally by the woman in charge at this store. I am an existing customer who purchased several big items and paid them off when they were supposed to be in the past year and this is how I was treated I have tried contacting headquarters by phone with no luck.Business Response

On April 28, this company took it upon themselves to charge any form of payment they have on record. Without my consent, they deducted my account for a payment which caused my bank to overdraft in addition to prevent me from buying baby food for my two young boys under the age of two. I reached out to this location and asked, why did they do this and who gave approval and not once did I get a clear answer nor did anyone show empathy or correct us. This location is very rude and unprofessional and have no customer service ethics whatsoever. They speak to you as if they are a bully, which I am not surprised about because Ive heard this from previous customers in the past and was one of the biggest reasons I was hesitant doing business with them. I had a need therefore, I decided let me try them. After making my payments on time every two weeks I had to miss two payments, given my small children catching the flu. I pay for a service where I am protected if I miss payments, and when I questioned the store representatives about this, they disregarded it and didnt care to educate me on how to go about using that benefit to prevent me being charged without my consent or my authorization. I am very disturbed at the fact that this company says that they care about customers however, the people they have at their store front representing them have no manners I have no sort of customer service skills whatsoever. They think that they are bill collectors, and that they could talk to people, however they want which is not the case, I for one Im very upset as to this previous experience not only with the being charged without my consent, but additionally, with how rude and disrespectful, they are over the phone. I would like this to be addressed in addition to me being compensated for them, deducting my account again without my authorization , I have reached out to this corporation. Rent a center in ********** **** has taken my payment without approval of the product which they said I didnt qualify for the supervisor denied my application because she wouldnt take my rent receipt but she took my ************** for this product now I see a continuous ach trying to withdraw from my account ******* was supervisor name I believe its in ******** ********** **** I called asked for refund they hang up on me and even sent long email of how bad service was and how there manager called me a liar I want my refund of $75 back and I want them to rent to me because I have a good record with them and this place alone treated me like terrible I will make payments online and wont have to ever see them but they were wrong to take my money and never refund me on top of that try to take money from my bank account and I dont have product is beyond me. Local store is not taking down the agreements for items I've returned. Still shows active on my account which is Making system believe I've used up all my "approval amount " therefore not letting me complete an online transaction if I find an item online I like. On or around 02/01/2023, I had ordered a complete bedroom set as well that was to come with mattress. I was purchasing the bed base which allows my feet and back to be raised, so I had to purchase the mattress for that. I was told the mattress came with the set of headboard, frame, and 2 night stands. On or around mid March I contacted store to inform them that the 1 nightstand had fallen apart while trying to even it to headboard. I was told they had nobody to come get it. Two weeks later they called me about my payment again I reminded them of the broken night stand and now the base of the bed had come apart. Again nobody available for 2 weeks. Less than 2 days later my gown caught onto the broken frame causing me to fall while caring a handful of clothes onto box filled with Electronics causing me to damage my left knee rendering me unable to walk pass the couch upstairs to my girls bathroom. I again contacted the store informed them as to what had happened. It took over another week to have them come fix frame and pick up the night stand for repair. It's been 1 month and don't have the night stand they demand I pay for. I'm offered a discount at pay off or a mixed match nightstand. Which had I not mentioned it to them I am forced to pay and accept their offer. I'm 4 months into paying and have ALWAYS paid for the things I purchased through them. But to be talked down to or told accept mixed matched items take it or leave it. My knee is yet damaged due to faulty assemble. Now I must accept either pay it off and get a discount at the end, or take a different night where it will not match the one in the room.Business Response

As she is renting our property, ************** is stipulated to keep possession of the property and provide payment for the property while in her care. If ************** does not intend to continue payment on the property, she is demanded to return it.
