Horrible company that only cares about money. Will leave areas without emergency care for their pets. Gives the same general response for all complaints. Do not support this company in any way. They forgot what their purpose is.

We sympathize with your concern for pets in the ******************** However, we reviewed our records and were unable to find that you were a client of our hospital. Our understanding from BBB is that only individuals who have had an interaction with our hospital are permitted to leave reviews.

We recognize the need for emergency veterinary services in the area but, due to lack of ER doctors, we made a very difficult decision to close VSES no later than Nov. 27. We explored multiple options to remain in service, including recruitment and staffing with a rotation of doctors from other clinics in the area. The pool of full-time or relief candidates with emergency and surgical care experience is very limited. This is a nationwide challenge that our team is experiencing acutely in the Rochester region.

We recognize that the closure of this hospital is a huge loss to the community and our team members, and the decision to close was one of the most difficult ones weve made as a company. In the meantime, we are committed to continuing to serve our community as long as we can ensure a reliable schedule of care for our patients.

Your absolute greed and soulless business practices are breathtaking. A city as large as ********* will no longer have an emergency vet clinic thanks to you. We will have to drive 2+ hours to get our pets care thanks to you.

I used to believe this was one of the best veterinary hospitals in **********. I was dead wrong. 3 years ago when I first got my 2 ferrets they started having diarrhea and vomiting. It was suspected that they had helicobactor. ************ was tested and came back positive for helicobactor and coronavirus (ece). I had positive confirmation from one of the best places I could bring my girls so that must be it. I treated them for helicobactor and ece for the past 3 years. They have had many long days at north start as well as overnights. One of those overnights ********* started biting and ever since will bite anyone who is not me. I shouldve taken that as the first sign that something is wrong here. I didnt and brought them there for nearly every problem until I recently moved to *******.Recently ********* had surgery for a blockage (hairball). Surgery went well and she was healing properly then suddenly she was having problems using the bathroom. She was in obvious distress and discomfort. I brought her to the vet who suggested a helicobactor test. The biopsy came directly from her stomach. She does not have helicobactor.A week later ***** is now vomiting, having diarrhea and trouble going to the bathroom. They both were tested at that point for 4 different GI diseases including helicobactor and coronavirus (ece). Neither of them have either of the diseases in which I have been treating them for 3 years. As you can see by ****************** email that these are life long diseases with no known cure.I emailed north start the records they requested and was told **************** said they could not be virally shedding at this time and got the negative results. This place is a scam. Ive not heard back from them after receiving two attachments explaining the two diseases my ferrets dont Before these girls I had two boy ferrets. Both euthanized by north start vets.

Agreed! Money hungry. NorthStar in ************ will never be revisited by myself or any friends/family. My daughters ****** was sent home only to have him rushed back, and stayed 4 days due to an illness that they didnt detect. Hmm. Most recently I brought my yorkie to them, only to be sent home. Pnut was violently vomiting, they sent us home. $600 later. The next day, thank god for my niece who works for our local veterinary clinic, Pnut was put on 4 different medications. He has pancreatitis and pneumonia due to aspiration of his vomit. My niece saved our dogs life NOT NorthStar. It was well worth paying a second $600 to save him. NorthStar made an easy $600 for absolutely NOTHING. Stay clear of northstar.

Have been trying to reach a representative via email for weeks to ask questions about insurance reimbursement for emergency care for our dog. Complete lack of responsiveness and no telephone numbers listed on website. Horrible customer service!!

Thank you for contacting us! We checked our Thrive Plus Membership database and do not have record of a membership in this name. We also do not offer "insurance" to our clients. It's possible you meant to reach out to another company.

First I want to assure you these reviews aren't from the same person in *********, **!! We in ********* are mad as h*#$ at what Thrive has done in our area. You've come in and over the years purchased and ruined so many of our wonderful vet hospitals and now our only emergency hospital. We're left with what can only be described as a clinic. Closes at 10 and doesn't keep animals over night! Making people with animals in emergency conditions drive hours away to get treatment! All the while their owners are distraught and scared! Don't be a cowered Thrive and pretend you're the victim here! You're getting yelled at by multiple people because you deserve it! My dog needed emergency care at 2:30AM before Thrive bought out the *** He needed immediate care and overnight care. He survived. Now, I doubt he would've survived the drive out of town and I can't imagine how I would've been driving him. The only thing that would help us now would be for Thrive to get out of our town!

It is absolutely tragic and disgusting that Thrive ******** is discontinuing overnight care in our city. They own at least 16 offices in the *********, ** area. For all of these businesses, it would stand to reason that at least ONE would be open for emergencies. None of these businesses should even be called HOSPITALS, because they are clearly not anymore, they are clinics. They clearly do not care about their employees, the communities they serve or the animals that live there. The name is a JOKE.

Backfilling those positions will take time due to the nationwide shortage of veterinary staff, which we are also experiencing in the ********* area. I am writing to contest the Thrive corporate decision to no longer provide overnight care for pets in our area (*********, **). Pet owners try to do the responsible thing and get their pets the care they need, even in emergency situations where they have to pay more money. A few months ago, I was almost unable to get my dog in for a scratched cornea, which happened on the weekend. She was in a lot of pain and has severe car anxiety. Driving to ******* was not an option. Luckily, they got her in and I ended up paying more than $400 to get her seen and treated. I now have two dogs and one has tried to attack the other. I am petrified that if there is another incident, I will not be able to get my dog/dogs in to be seen. In emergency situations, many people do not have the time to take their pets to the Buffalo area to be seen. Keeping only one 24-hour emergency facility in each area you serve is definitely doable and is the RIGHT thing to do for our community. ********* has a huge network of already crowded pet rescues and shelters and we need help. Please do the responsible, humane, and respectful thing for our community and help us provide our pets with quality emergency care. Emergencies dont only happen within the hours you will be providing. I have seen and heard from employees that are willing and able to work these shifts so I know that is not the problem, as you may claim. Our community deserves around-the-clock emergency care for our pets so please reconsider your decision!

This review is in regard to Thrive's purchase of multiple veterinary locations in *********, **. The *********, ** community has depended on **** as an emergency care provider for many years. Our pets deserve the best we can give them and the Thrive corporate decision to no longer provide overnight care is certainly a long way from the community's best. If you are as you say in your marketing, concerned about the care and services being provided, you will reconsider your decisions. Having one facility in our area that is open and available for emergency services would not only increase your profits but would go a very long way to bolster your ratings at all of your corporate owned facilities in *********. We all know that the costs of everything have increased and that it is a struggle to keep up, but with a corporate structure such as Thrive, maintaining ONE 24-hour emergency facility in every area you serve is not only doable, but the RIGHT thing to do to support the community that is supporting you. ********* has a huge network of pet rescue and support organizations with many voices, and I know that you would benefit greatly from having all of those voices rallying FOR you. Please do the responsible and respectful thing for this community and work with us to find a way to provide our pets with quality emergency care. We all know that emergencies happen at the least opportune times, and our pets don't deserve to suffer because of some balance sheet. We also know that there are loving, devoted providers in this community that are ready and willing, many who are in your employ already, that would happily work overnight shifts to save lives. ********* deserves better and your company will reap the benefits of the support you give this community. Please reconsider, for pets sake!

After sending several emails and attempting to contact Thrive Pet directly with not one response. I am bringing my concern to the BBB. I also see that they are not responding to concerns posted here so we will see where their concerns really are. We have an animal emergency clinic located in *********, ** that has been operational 24/7 for several years. As soon as Thrive Pet came into ********* the hours of the clinic were cut and now they close at 10 pm. This puts the pet owners in a serious crisis if they have a true emergency. They have posted to social media that the pet owners are now required to drive 45 mins to the local emergency hospital in hopes that they will be able to treat you if your pet SURVIVES. They claim it is staffing and according to staff that is not the issue at all. When will THRIVE become customer focused and not all about the $$$. These are our pets and we need emergency veterinary services.
