Ordered a salt cell for my pool. Part was sent and arrived quickly. After opening the box, I found a used salt cell that looks like it may have been rebuilt! Black sealant all over the probe plate, nicks and scratches on the housing and the whole shell of it was weather worn! Not happy! Was expecting a new part! Nowhere did it say a reconditioned part! Contacted the company and was told their customer service would get in touch! Still waiting, it's been a week!Discount Salt Pool

I'm so sorry for the delay in responding. Our holiday week closing was posted on the site but obviously did not serve us well in this case. Please be assured that we never, ever sell used or reconditioned cells. SO FAR SO GOOD. installed and waiting for salt level to rise. How worried should I be about salt dissolving if my water temp. is below 60 degrees and will my salt readings be accurate?Discount Salt Pool

You do not need to be concerned about the salt dissolving; it might take an extra day in cooler water, no problem. At 60 degrees however, your pool water is on the threshold of being too cold for chlorine generation. Depending on the mineral content, most salt systems cease power delivery to the cell between 58 and 68 degrees, in order to preserve the life of the cell plate coatings. Likewise, without a couple days of run-time, the unit will not have a chance to calibrate itself for accurate salt readings.
This will all fix itself when warmer water temperatures permit.....In the meantime, use salt test strips or drops to check your salinity if you have doubts about it being in range. The upside of cool water is that organic activity and algae possibilities are greatly reduced. If you have additional questions, call our tech staff at the number on the website.
