It wasn't until I tried to sell my first car that I realized the absolute incompetence of Carfax despite an entire industry that relies on them. Carfax's automated method of tracking vehicle changes often completely inaccurate and their lack of support fails to address this common occurrence. I am literally being held hostage by Carfax because they refuse to correct a mistake made by the CA DMV when I had already moved and had the mistake corrected on my title in another state. This mistake has prevented my ability to sell my car, and reduced its resale value by over 50%.
Carfax has refused to correct this error after over a month waiting for a reply on my open case. Their states solution was passing the buck, with incorrect instructions for something I couldn't even accomplish because I had moved out of state from where my original title came. What further frustrates me is that each time I moved state Carfax considers each new title as a "new owner"! My carfax says 4 owners, but I leased my car new and purchased it at lease end. 1 owner and Carfax won't fix it!
The amount of stress Carfax has caused me and impacted my life is insane. I lost my home due to unemployment and my inability to sell my car entirely because of Carfax. This company and their lack of realization that they hold peoples lives hostage is a crime. The entire industry bases valuations on Carfax yet this company provides zero support for a service that "gets it wrong" so often. If I wasn't broke I would sue Carfax because their incompetence has cost me thousands of dollars and impacted my life severely. Unfortunately there is no alternative. This is a monopoly that seems to know there is no alternative and have gone to great lengths it seems to offer zero support. How on earth does this company still have a BBB A rating!?!?

I got an oil change a couple of weeks ago and the young attendant made a mistake on the mileage by 5000 miles. I had the oil shop send carfax the corrected mileage, and I sent the corrected receipt, and seemingly dont care to fix the problem. Bad customer relations!

Do not purchase from ALM Nissan in Newnan! You will regret it all! Anthony, Jacob, JP, Tripp will treat you terrible after sale and slip on extended warranty. After the sale, they don't call, they talk to you like a piece of crap! Don't say you were not warned

Horrible Customer **********************. Literally just bots that give you the runaround. I paid for a report, they sent me an email saying it was ready. When I clicked on the link, it would not pull the report up in my account. This was 2 weeks ago and I have yet to talk to a real person. case number ********

I traded my car in at a dealer and they asked me how many accidents I had with the car. I told them one time a deer jumped into my car that was it. They had that accident listed 2 years in a row. I've been trying to get them to remove their second accident report on it because it's not true and it took the value off of my car as a trade deal. I had to accept the loss of value on the car because of two accidents. It was only one. There's no reason for what happened to my vehicles report. I will never go buy a Carfax again I don't believe them their information it's not true

Falsified Reports I was in a accident in July, 2016. The front, and rear door in addition to the center pillar on the driver's side was damaged. Basically, the car was side wiped. ***** sends me an email with a link to accessing CarFax to see my vehicles history. According to their records, the complete side was damaged. The front fender and the quarter panel was untouched. *****, who is this so called Resolution Manager was totally useless. He asked for a receipt. I told him that I was given an estimate and that was my bill. In addition, I told him that I have receipt. However, due to the fact that is was printed on thermal paper, the text is faded. I mean we're talking 2016. So, I sent ***** pictures of the damage and that it has been repaired. Oh, but that wasn't enough. He wanted an invoice. That estimate was my invoice, and he refused to acknowledge that fact. I sent him pictures from my insurance company, in addition to the car's current state. You would never know it was involved in a minor collision. All stickers on the pillar have been replaced with OEM stickers. I just had my rear bumper refinished due to age. Again, I was given an estimate and that was my bill. Of the twenty five years that I have owned my 1999 ***** Accord EX V6/ Leather Interior only thirty three maintenance records have been reported. I have over 300 physical service records in my file cabinet. This is clear evidence that will be brought up in court of the negligence in Car Fax's reporting ability. I have filed a complaint with the **************************, the BBB, and the State Attorney General. In addition to formal litigation against CarFax, **** based out of Centrevile, **.

I paid for a car fax on 11/9/24 and was sent a carfax for the wrong vehicle. Reached out to Carfax for correct Carfax. Did not receive the correct one until 11/27/24. More than TWO AND A HALF WEEKS LATER! By that point I had sold the car without the report. On 11/29/24 I asked for a refund because I had not received the product in a timely fashion and it is no longer of use to me. I am STILL waiting for a refund.

Carfax is a scam. When I inquired at my credit union about upgrading my lease they told me there were 2 accidents on my Carfax report...one in October 2023 and one in October 2024. The one in 2024 never happened. I called my insurance company and they verified that there were no claims for October 2024. I also called the *** and was told that they had no record of an accident in October 2024. I paid for the *** report to be emailed to me and submitted it to Carfax along with my dispute claim. Over the span of about 2 weeks I received several emails from Carfax saying they were still investigating my claim. I received a final email from them saying they concluded their investigation and that an anonymous 3rd party reported damage to my car in October 2024 and for the protection of the consumer the report will not be changed. How is this even legal? What consumer are they protecting by providing a false report? Certainly not me as the false report affects the value of my vehicle and I don't even have the right to know who reported the accident that never happened. Somebody needs to shut this company down. They got one star because it won't let you leave zero stars.

Paid for a carfax report, sent me a confirmation email and said to login to view the report. Well of course I get on there and it says I have no reports. I needed it that day to purchase a car from someone and wanted to check and make sure everything was fine. $44.99 wasted. I emailed them, two weeks later I get a response saying heres your report sorry ??? I asked for a refund. I needed the report that day, not two weeks later. Total scam and still have not gotten my money back. Thats a lot of money to lose.
