Capital One is a bunch of sadistic scoundrels. The whole system is not a bank. This business was established to defraud clients out of their money. This is a piece of the *** ******* Mafia, which stole money from the ******* people to use here in ****** to rip off ********* for even more money. Do not talk to Capital One, there is no help anyway. Stop supporting their 460 feet, eight decks yachts, submit a complaint to the ** government, submit a complaint Office of Financial Regulation (OFR), submit a complaint to the **** and submit a complaint to the Consumer Financial ***************** (CFPB). Do not be afraid. You have nothing to lose. https://www.ftc.gov/#/assistant https://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/https://www.*******/complaints-lender#item-35522

My REI card account was transferred to CapitalOne by the bank which previously held the account. In order to protect my ID from ID theft, I wished to set up alerts about ANY transaction on my credit card. They were unable to do this on the phone, rather required that I sign into their web site. I went to do that and found that they required my FULL social security number to accomplish that.Since this company has suffered at least one serious data breach, I am reticent to provide that number onto their landing page. While the page does show as https, my confidence as to how this company will handle the entire social security number is very low.I wrote the *** of the company, requesting that CapitalOne allow me, the consumer, to protect my ID from ID theft via alerts. Either via the standard "last 4 digits of the ssn" or by using the credit card number as the bank account number which would also allow signing up. Both of those were rejected. The information back from him was that essentially "rules are rules" and so they continue to require the full ssn which I haven't experienced with any other bank with which I do business. Further they continue to deny me the ability to set alerts over the phone. So, at this point, I am at risk for ID theft and it appears that CapitalOne is not going to help minimize that risk. I'm actually surprised that it is legal to not allow the consumer to have that capability (I wonder what they would do if I didn't have a computer, since they are requiring that I sign in online)....but regardless, it's poor business practice.I have no idea what others' experiences have been with this organization, but so far, my experiences have been fraught with frustration and surprise at the lack of consumer orientation. So, at this point, I am completely exposed regarding ID theft due to ********************** not providing me the means to set alerts without putting my entire social security number onto a marginally secure page.

If you want to build your credit with a capital one secured credit card don't, they will never graduate you to an unsecured account with them and keep your deposit. I have had one with them for 4 years now. They have zero accountability if you call customer service either. They claim to have no control over this mysterious autonomous system that makes those decisions. If I had know that four years later I would still be on a secure credit card with absolutely no path to graduation past that I would have went somewhere else to do business. Also closing the account would hurt my credit because it is my oldest account so the whole thing is unfair and holding my deposit hostage. I think you should think twice before doing business with capital one

I opened an account with US Bank for an REI card in 2020. I have used my card and made payments since then without incident. Capital One took over from US Bank this month (August 2022). I made my first payment on their website as I had not set up my ******************* pay yet. Although the payment has been all ready deducted from my banks checking account, Capital One said their policy is to hold the payment from my now Capital One balance for six days to verify the payment is valid. When I inquired why, they could not tell me. Welcome to Capital One! What a slap in the face! I feel they should apologize and correct this issue immediately. My account with USBank has never reflected any issues since I opened it to warrant this treatment from Capital One. I dont need to use the card, its the principal. Big corporation, unfair practices, zero integrity. Horrible company.

Received multiple invitations to apply for Capitals credit card. I finally did, thinking I would keep it for emergencies. My credit score is in higher range.I got turned down. I now have s hard inquiry on my credit rating for something I really didn't want. They marketing efforts are slippery...learn from my mistake..don't believe any materials they send you...all these invites I got were meaningless and a waste of paper.

I opened a Capital One business credit card 21 years ago, and until recently never had reason to file a claim. That changed in July 2022. I booked a motel reservation with *************, *** based in ******, **. I was given a rate of $83.70, which I accepted. Shortly thereafter I received an email confirmation in the amount of $134.44, which included over $50 in service fees. I immediately canceled the reservation and received a cancellation email. It turns out that with ************** it is impossible to reverse the charge! I filed a claim with Capital One - the first one in 21 years! Capital One denied my claim. I happily canceled my Capital One credit card. Capital One is no longer in my wallet.
