I wasn't going to write a response, but after seeing ****************'s review I felt it incumbent on me to do so... to as quickly and succinctly, without all the gory details, share my experience, which is very much in line with *******'s being told one thing and receiving the exact opposite (based on expediency and their own monetary gain). Neither ******** nor Fairbanks, who are *******************, appear to be owned by Allied Luthier, have any idea about actually running a business, at least for longevity. For those who do not know, **** Fairbanks and Art ******** are the Iris Guitar Factory... no more individually crafted guitars by Fairbanks all *************-made guitars. They don't understand the age-old adage, that your best new customer is your old customer. I got hammered on two 6k to *************************************************. They are not an upfront and forthright company, it is all about the dollar now... a big smile, and lots of marketing. Their service ***** and they certainly don't care about the customer...

In May 2019, I contacted **** Fairbanks and commissioned a custom guitar. I paid him a $2200 deposit, gave him expensive ***** inlays and marquetry materials to use on the guitar, and he promised delivery in a year or less. After more than a year passed, I contacted him about the delay, and either received no response, or general replies with no new time estimates.During this time, I gave up hope and commissioned the same guitar from a different luthier.Eventually, after more than 2 years, **** told me the guitar was complete and billed me for the remaining amount. I promptly paid him, and his partner ************************* promised that the guitar would be shipped that week. This was another false promise; the guitar was not shipped, and the following week **** emailed me that he was keeping the guitar because other people were interested in it. He also kept $1100 of my initial deposit.I filed a fraud claim with my bank, and the bank ruled in my favor.A few months later, **** listed the guitar for sale at ****************** for substantially more than he had agreed to sell it to me. The guitar was sporting the ***** and marquetry inlays I had given him when I commissioned the guitar. I emailed him to express my shock, but there was no apology for the shocking behavior.
