I am a court appointed guardian and I have an elderly veteran who used to own a sports memorabilia shop. His entire inventory is in storage. While I have sold quite a bit on ********** and at a second hand store, I thought maybe trying an auction for some of the more spendy things would be a good idea. I didn't want to just hand over a 5k item so I planned to start with things about $200 until the auction proved itself. My friend said he had sold some things with Sound Auction so I called them a few months ago. The guy sounded ok, explained how they get their cut and it is based on the selling price. The bigger the price, the smaller the percentage. That seemed fine. Because it was so far from me I just had not gotten around to going until this last Friday. I called the day before to check on hours and let them know I was coming. The guy was really quite unfriendly and kept going on and on about how little money he makes and how the items have to add up to at least $250 and how much it is to add it to the website, etc. I was kind of put off but I explained that I have a ton of stuff and much of it is pretty pricey so while I was not comfortable bringing in something expensive, if the first couple of times went well there was plenty of money to be made. I said that I had planned to go to the second hand shop and get some uncut framed ******************* cards. He asked if it was the football player which I thought was odd, who else would it be? I should have gone with my gut instinct that there was something wrong with this guy. Unfortunately the second hand shop had issues and whoever was to open never showed up so we were there before it was to open and stayed half an hour. Nothing. We discussed if we should just forget it or go to the storage and find something else about the same value. We did that and found a very nice framed picture from opening day at Safeco. Online in several places we found similar or the same picture for at least $200. We decide
