Plumber did an excellent job, in and out in 2 hours, it was a small residential job. Cost to replace two toilet flushing mechanisms ($60 each), and 1 sink stopper ($15) total cost was $2,537.03. I did agree to the cost at the time, because the other 2 companies of who I asked for bids, did not get back to me before 10 days. I had to take time off work to be home for the quote. Many plumbers hourly rate is $150-$250, I even anticipated this job to be around $800.00-$1000.00. When I called the owner to express my concern, he was defensive, argumentative and not willing to hear my concerns. The owner expressed he mismanaged his business for many years, last year he almost had to close his business, and now that he understands overhead costs, he has increased his prices. I asked for a break-down of my bill, which he wouldn't do because it was a 37-line spreadsheet. I asked if $2,500 made sense to him for a small residential job that took only 2 hours and then I quoted him the online price for materials. He argued with me on the phone for over ***************************************** He justified that he just bought a new $300,000 truck, and he must pay for the gas out to my residence (he did not send the $300,000 truck to my home). He said all his customers pay the same cost, when I asked about prices being tiered based on size of job residential versus commercial, he became even more defensive. I understand overhead costs, I understand how to run a business, I understand increased costs with the pandemic. I don't understand how he will charge me the same as he does for large commercial jobs. He assured me that the plumber who came out, was not getting a good amount of the bill. I was disappointed to hear that, being that I paid $1268.50 per hour of work. At the end of the call, I asked again for a breakdown of my bill, and he refused.

Most of the claims that are made here are out of context or not true. In order to avoid these kinds of complaints we give prices before any work is started. This customer knew the price and agreed to it. He stated he thought it was going to take longer and that is why he was unhappy with the price. I explained to him if it took two hours or two days the agreed price is what he would have been charged. I explained our pricing is necessary for us to be in business. I offered to share our pricing breakdown (which is a rather large spreadsheet) and he was not interested in hearing that. He continually requested cost of materials and labor only. I told him those amounts and explained to him those two items are only a portion of our cost of business. Although he claims to understand, he does not. At the end of the call I offered to set an appointment with him to show him the details of our cost of business. At that point he hung up angrily. If he would like to contact me again I would be more than happy to give him any information he would like.
