Date was 7/20/2024. I paid the company approximately $400 to move my bedroom and office furniture to my Livingroom to have new flooring put down. As a result of negligence on the part of their employee(s), they damaged my two lateral file cabinets beyond repair. The mover lifted the cabinets (full of files) on to a dolly by himself without help from the other movers (who had not arrived yet). I tried to suggest that we remove the drawers of files first as this was a wooden particle board cabinet (only one year old and in mint condition), but he said "no problem" and proceeded to move it himself. He lifted the files from the top or surface, which he should have known better. This resulted in cam screws tearing the left side of both cabinets. I took pictures and emailed them to the owner of the company. These cabinets cost $300 a piece last year when I bought them not counting tax or the cost to hire someone to put them together for me. I called the manufacturer to see if I could order the replacement parts, but was told they are no longer available as they had been re-engineered, but they did have the same cabinets and I could replace the entire cabinets for only $155 each (+tax and the cost to put them together) as they were marked down right now from $299 each. I relayed this information back to the owner. The owner has been defensive and has told me that because the ** Transportation only offers a minimal coverage for particle board furniture. He also told me I was not being nice and the tone of his email was passive/aggressive and he is only offering me $66 each based on shipping weight. And he insists that my furniture is fine and that this is the best he can do. Yet the furniture is only one year old and was in mint condition and I invested about $900 into these two cabinets. They match my office furniture and are very nice. Besides that, they were not "transported" at all! They was moved about 25 feet on level flooring (no stairs) into my living room!

      Hi ********,

I understand your frustration, which is why I've offered to cover the cost of your file cabinets several times. The filing cabinets are listed at $168.00 each with free shipping on the **** furniture website.

My offer first, is that I would order new cabinets and sequester the old ones for use in our offices since the damage is only visible from the back.

If you would like to keep the cabinets for continued use, I've also offered to submit a claim that would pay a total of $132.00 for the two cabinets. This is based on the Utilities and Transportation Commissions' (UTC) House-Hold Goods Consumer and Provider Guidelines. Which although states that no moving company is liable for pressboard materials (the filing cabinets are pressboard), lists three insurance options that every moving company must abide by. Yours would fall under 'Basic Value Protection' at $0.60 per pound.

I've listed a link to the **** ***************** website for review of the cabinets for weight and cost. RE:    Lot Code 52138340      Part No A204774

I understand that you're upset, and I feel as though some of this may be stemming from us hesitating to marry your deposits for two separate moves into one move, which we did. You've called our office several times and hung up on me several times and I would appreciate if you could stop harassing us and let me buy you two replacement filing cabinets.
