BBB has received complaints alleging customers pre-paid for tax return preparation, with most having been promised they would be electronically filed, however, they were never submitted to the I.R.S. Most complaints have gone unanswered.
According to the I.R.S., Anyone who prepares or assists in preparing federal tax returns for compensation must have a valid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) before preparing returns. All enrolled agents must also have a valid PTIN." On August 14, 2024, BBB confirmed with the I.R.S. that Scott R. Munsch does not have a PTIN: https://irs.treasury.gov/rpo/rpo.jsf
