I engaged Top Notch Movers to pack and move my household across states Nov. 13 - 16. The packers were unprofessional, leaving a mess every time the one used the bathroom. They seemed efficient but estimated poorly and left an entire UHaul truck of stuff behind. I had to rent and fly and drive all over to get everything moved myself. Once we got to the destination, they were rough with our things, breaking all of the media shelves, poking holes into paintings that weren't even wrapped. The armoire back is destroyed and a custom mattress (king size, double sided, pillow top) was folded so the padding couldn't be straightened out. It was well over $5k worth of damage. They blamed it on the packers but they manhandled fragile boxes so they were upside down and under the heavier boxes. They claimed responsibility for the packing but not for the unloading damage. I have pictures of the damage. Now they won't communicate with me. I have been trying for months to get resolution.

She did receive a refund f $50, it was not $5k in damage. We ran a few different transactions to get the full payment and a few cards declined. I think she just wants money back from her move.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I believe they have me confused with someone else. There was no refund. They never had a decline on my card, and there was only ever one transaction to which I can provide receipts from my credit card company. And, yes, there were around 5k in damages... damages that we keep finding as we unpack. My XBox was thrown into a box with the A/C unit and not wrapped. The A/C unit was just in a box without padding or wrapping of any kind and it has to be replaced because at one point it was upside-down so the compressor no longer works right. My hand painted picture of an eagle was pierced through the canvas and now has a big hole in the body of the bird... it can't be replaced because the artist can't paint anymore. Three shelves and an armoire were broken. The bed was mishandled so it was filthy dirty and folded over so the padding wasn't on one side. That alone was a custom mattress which cost 4k in the first place, and had to be replaced. Items that were fragile were thrown into a "Fragile" box but not protected in any way, and the box was upside-down when it was unloaded from the truck. The crew tried to roll the table top down the sidewalk, scratching up the edges until I stopped them.

At the time all of the blame (and there was an admission of guilt and responsibility by the manager on the phone) was placed on a specific employee who had done some of the packing, but the mishandling of our items in the truck and during the unloading process was not that person's fault since they weren't even there. The whole crew was negligent.

The only reason there isn't more evidence attached to this complaint is because they only allowed one file. I have more pictures.

There has been no offer or attempt at addressing this matter by the company.

      Regards,

      ******-*** ****
