I had a garbage disposal that wasn't working in the apartment I was renting. I submitted a maintenance request. The maintenance person arrived on Feb 8th 2024 when I was not home. When I got home, I noticed the disposal still was not working. I looked at my security camera footage and saw he spent a minute in the kitchen. The rest of the time I observed him walking around my apartment taking videos and pictures of my apartment and my things. I then observed him speaking to the property manager Lexi and they both were discussing and laughing about the amount of stuff I had in my apartment. When I reached out to Lexi, she said he was taking videos of the laundry equipment I had because he was concerned about ventilation. What I observed was him taking videos of anything but laundry equipment. I told her I wanted a different person to come to fix the disposal correctly. She said she would, but didn't. I then opened up another maintenance request and stated multiple times I did not want that same person who snooped around and recorded my things. This request was ignored as I observed the same guy back in my apartment. This caused a great deal of anxiety and stress as I do not trust this person and didn't want him in my apartment. Previously, I told Lexi I wanted him banned from ever entering my apartment again. Complete disrespect. When I tried the garbage disposal after the second visit, it worked for 5 minutes and stopped. I finally fixed it myself. This company entered my apartment and violated my personal space by taking videos of my things. I have no idea where those videos will show up. The maintenance person could pass those videos on to criminals. This is not the first time this company has done this. A year earlier I caught another maintenance person go into my garage, look around without an entry notice, and then left without locking the door. I did not receive an apology. Both times they acted like it didn't happen.

Being a property manager is not an easy task and is very demanding. Property managers balance the needs of the resident with the owner of the property as an investment. Some owners are very proactive (we are) in taking care of our properties ourselves and also being willing to re-invest and let the property manager actually do work beyond our ability. Some owners are reticent to spend and $ to improve and take care of. That balancing act coupled with in this day and age, too often let's just say, residences with challenging requests, sometimes unrealistic expectations and their often own lack of responsibility. Then there's the challenge of staffing and lack of folks wanting to work. Having owned property for over 40 years, we have found MPM as the best around, responsive, respectful, fair and run with integrity. The relationship between the resident, property owner and property manager is a balancing act that all three need to partner for day in, day out great outcomes. As treasurer of our condo association I have worked primarily with Audrey, the accountant. She has been very responsive and knowledgeable. I couldn't ask for anyone better. We have had MPM for approximately 6 years as our condo association manager. We are satisfied with their overall performance.Madison Property Management, Inc.
