I have a motor on my motor that the compression release broke now the motor wont start. This is a common problem with this motor. But I have to pay **** to replace the camshaft to fix the issue. I'm just asking briggs and stratton to send me a replacement engine so I can use my motor. I would really appreciate it. Thank you and have a blessed day.

There was a tapping noise coming from the mower, then I couldnt restart it. I took the mower to Spring Hill ******* Power Equipment (Repair Order ****), which is an authorized repair shop. The shop determined that the engine was at 40-degree compression, and it was a warranty issue. They contacted Briggs & Stratton and sent pictures. One-week later B&S wanted more pictures. One-week later B&S wanted pictures of different parts. One-week later B&S denied warranty coverage due to minimal amount of dirt in engine oil. I requested a supervisors review of my file. He wanted more pictures of some parts that had already been sent. One-week later B&S wanted carburetor pictures again, which the service tech sent and confirmed was not mistreated and had a clean filter. A few days later B&S denied the warranty coverage again. I kept the air filter clean and replaced it when needed. The oil, per B&S maintenance in the operators manual states Just check and add oil. No oil changes. I am being denied my warranty because of minimal amounts of dirt in the oil that the manual clearly says should not be changed. I maintained this machine in the same ways I have maintained any motor for my whole life and have never had an issue like this. I asked the shop to repair what you are refusing to take responsibility for, and their response was that replacement parts and/or replacement engines were not available. I now have a $600 pile of metal that I cannot do anything with. It would seem that the repair was denied because you are unable to supply the parts needed. I now owe the shop $85, and I have been having to pay to have my lawn mowed for all the time mine has been in the shop. My wife and I live on a tight budget and have no way to afford a new mower or to keep paying someone to cut my ******* lawn. Please replace the mower that has quit working even with my best efforts, due to what I was originally told was an issue with the pistons in the engine.

Purchased a 12KW standby generator by Briggs and Stratton on 9/20/17. In the paperwork that came with the generator, there was a postcard that would extend the warranty for an extra year. The Generator stopped working during a storm on 8/31/2023. I called to check for a service dealer to fix, the generator and was told it was out of warranty. I called the company back and talked to **** from support. Case number: 1273240-WARRANTY CRM:***********. I told her I called to get help filling out the card. The support told me how to fill out the card. After she helped me I put it into the mail. This is Briggs and stattion response. Hello *****: After researching with the Sales group, they stated that there are no records in the system for an extended 6-year warranty on this model. The normal process is when the company has a promotion (to extend warranty), sales will send a Certificate to the customer with the information about the extended warranty. Per sales, the warranty on your unit is only 5-year. We apologize for the confusion Thanks ********** called the company where I purchased the Gen ***** They told me if there was a card in the paperwork, that would come from the manufacturer. I sent two Emails on 9/7/23. No response from them.

I have one of Briggs and Strattons standby home generators that has a technical problem.I have attempted to get one of the 10+ service centers that are listed on the Briggs and Stratton web site to service my generator, but none are willing and most to their own admission not equipped to service the unit. Briggs and Stratton shall either assist me with finding a capable service provider.Im also accusing Briggs and Stratton of deceptive marketing and false advertising by falsely listing service locations which are unable or unwilling to provide that service. If they are unmilling to assist in resolving what may be a repair, I will file further complaints with the B&B advising others to be very weary about buying a product that cannot be serviced.

yes after significant effort on my part including having to do an end around the Briggs and Stratton web site just to find a phone number for the company, Im asking that they purge most of the companies they have listed for supposedly being willing and capable service providers, then they are NOT!   The fact is the majority will NOT service the B&S generators.  *********** is retired.  Others simply do not service the equipment at all.

One said unless I purchased the propane from them, they would not work on my generator.

Therefor this current long list of service providers is paramount to a deceptive marketing scheme.

I strongly urge Briggs and Stratton if they stand by their product to offer their customers a phone number or other real way to get support.

Once the current service provider has actually performed the repair and service to my satisfaction will I close out this complaint.

I encourage them to contact me if they wish to discuss this with me.

We purchased a B&S ***** P4500 generator on Amazon on 4/9/2021. It was received damaged; a replacement was requested which was received on 4/20/2021. The battery was dead and unable to be charged; we purchased a replacement and was reimbursed by B&S on 5/27/2021. So we got off to a bad start with this unit. We used the item without incident until 7/22/2023 at which time it stopped working due to a ** Guard fault (blue lights flashing). At the time of the failure, the unit had only been run for 26 hours. All required maintenance had been performed. Except when operating, the unit was either kept indoors or covered to protect it from the elements. It was never operated in dirty or dusty conditions. The failure of that system rendered the unit inoperable even though it was being used outdoors in accordance with the manual, eliminating the risk of harm from **. This left us without a/c for 2 days of 100-degree heat on one camping trip. It took over 2 weeks for an authorized dealer to even look at the unit and over 1 additional week to repair it. That forced us to cancel part of a second trip and all of a third trip where we would not have shore power. We have several complaints about B&S over this last issue. First, while over 2 years old, it is unreasonable for the ** Guard to have failed after so little use (26 hours!!). Second, we couldnt contact B&S directly regarding the issue as everything pointed us to authorized service dealers (of which there was only 1 reasonably close and they said they had never heard of ** Guard). Third, we spent $230.69 to get the unit repairedthat works out to $9 for every hour of use so far which is pretty expensive. We would also contend that it is a questionable design feature for a ** Guard fault to prevent operation of the unit. We understand the risks posed by ** but would have gladly accepted responsibility for using the unit properly so that 3 camping trips would not be adversely impacted.

Purchased a craftsman gas power washer at Lowes 4/27/22 that no longer works. The craftsman customer support line has me trapped in endless prompts leading to a disabled phone and email. Briggs & Stratton engines & products carry a warranty that is good for a time frame of 1, 2, or 3 years from the date of purchase (depending on the model, the warranty time frame will be listed in the operator's manual) by the first retail consumer and covers against manufacturing defects and/or workmanship of the engine and/or product. It does not cover damage caused by improper use or abuse, improper maintenance or repair, normal wear and tear, stale or unapproved fuel, or debris in the fuel.  The unit must be inspected by an authorized Briggs & Stratton service dealer for any warranty determination. If it is believed that the unit is eligible for a warranty repair, the unit must be presented, along with the original proof of purchase, to a local authorized Briggs and Stratton dealer for a warranty diagnosis.  The customer may be asked for a deposit to cover the cost of the analysis.  If a manufacturing defect is found the deposit will be reimbursed.  The customer was provided with an authorized service dealer.  Once the dealer has inspected the unit we will work with the customer and dealer to determine the best resolution.

I purchased a 2023 Troybilt XP push lawn mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine on June 10, 2023. A few weeks ago while I was mowing the lawn, it cut off and would not start up again. I waited a few minutes and tried to start it up again, it started for about 30 seconds and cut back off again. The store will not exchange it because it is past the 30-day original purchase date. None of your warranty stores will honor the 2 year warranty because they state that I have to pay them and then it is up to Briggs and Stratton to reimburse me. I feel there is no need to have a warranty after paying over ****** for a lawn mower, if I have to pay to have repaired. I want a refund or a new lawn mower. This lawn mower is still new. When I tried to contact Briggs and Stratton, I got a recording for information for warranty service places, and could not even email them to complain. Please get this serious issue resolved. At this time, I am borrowing other people's lawnmowers to cut my lawn, which is embarrassing when I have a brand-new lawnmower that does not work. I bought it through *********** When I went back online to look for it; they don't even have that model on their website anymore. I tried to mow again today, and it is still cutting off.

The customer has not been able to supply a proof of purchase receipt.  Based on the manufacturing date, the generator is outside of the warranty timeframe and not eligible for warranty consideration.  The customer is working with Lowes to obtain a copy of the purchase receipt.  Once that is received (and the unit is within the warranty timeframe based on the receipt date) we will work with the customer to have an authorized service dealer inspect the generator and engine for any warranty determination

In the late spring of 2022, I dropped off a flywheel to my local lawnmower service...******************* in ***********, **. 19335.It was to be sent to B&S to be remagnetized, a job expected to be finished and returned within a week to 10 days. Now in August 2023, after many inquiries and trips to the shop over many months, I am being told that B&S has finished the job, it just has to be shipped, or has been shipped. I have been told for a year that my flywheel was sent along with another flywheel from ******.

I have been in ****** repair every month for a year asking about this flywheel, only to be told....repeatedly...that it has not been received BACK. Obviously, if it had not been sent in, I could have retrieved it and continued with the points and condenser system, rather than the upgrade to electronic module, the whole point of having it remagnetized.

As such, my tractor has been a yard ornament for a year.

This response is absurd. Obviously, ****** would tire of me asking over and over ...for a year...for a flywheel if they had it in their possession the entire time. They could have returned it to me and sold me the appropriate coil, points and condenser. It was ****** idea for me to upgrade, which I have done, through them, with another tractor.

I have been told that it was to be returned but no tracking number (from *****'s end) had been provided.

My view at this pojnt is that this gfywheel is stolen property. What is the proper jurisdiction to contact the police?

      Regards,

Briggs and Stratton would like to extend our apologies for the inconvenience. The dealer was suppose to send out the flywheel. The customer needs to reach out to the dealer for an update on the flywheel.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I have been in contact for a friggin' year with the dealer who has assured me that he does not have the flywheel, nor does he have his, which was sent out with it, to be remagnetized.

      Pleease stop with this nonsense.

      Regards,

**** at ****** stated that the flywheel was never sent out to be repolarized. **** has been trying to get into with the customer to discuss his issue.

As stated.....**** at ****** has told me on multiple occasions that the flywheel was sent out, along with one of his flywheels, and that he has not received them back.

At one point, he told me that he was working with a "salesman" to try to get the matter resolved. I thought this was odd, since he should be able to contact directly.

Recently, I asked another Briggs dealer, Outdoor Power in ***********, ** if they could provide me with a direct customer support number (none is available on the website). I was told that even they have no way to contact...only through the website.

Obviously, this is no way to run a business.

I would appreciate a customer support number so I can discuss this directly.

Obviously my problem has NOT been resolved.

This matter needs to be handled with the dealer (****). Several calls have been made to ****** and Briggs and Stratton has spoken with **** who stated that the flywheel HAS NEVER been mailed out to be re-polarized.
