  Everyone I worked with was very helpful and easy to work with. I especially liked working with Mike the carpenter who was very particular and precise. Everything was done that I asked of him and more.

  Callen Construction did a total window replacement, new siding, gutters, etc. for us in 2018. The papers were signed in April and the windows were installed in July which wasn’t too bad, but the siding wasn’t done until December which meant our house was “under construction “ for five additional months. The installation of the siding was done by “triple stacking” which means the pieces are three high like paneling rather than individual boards, resulting in very visible seams that bulge and look awful. Our neighbor, who is in the construction business, said the method is the cheap way to quickly finish a job. If I could afford it, I’d have the entire house resided by another company. The window installation is fine although there was an additional strip of wood added on the interior of the window which Callen wouldn’t paint (the job manager said “we don’t do painting”) so we had to finish off the windows ourselves. A few months later Callen did return and replace most of the screens because the original screens (Marvin windows) had so many customer complaints. This has bothered me for three and a half years and I’m finally getting it off my chest. Be sure you get a definite time line from this company and know how they plan to install your siding. We learned the hard way not to trust a well-known remodeler to do a respectable job. The three star rating is a combination of one star for the siding and time frame of the job with a four star rating for the windows.

  Thank you for your feedback regarding your project, ******. While we always strive to be upfront with our timelines, sometimes we fall short, and factors in the market, including labor and material availability, can cause schedules to go longer than expected. However, we are always just as interested as the customer in bringing our projects to completion without compromising the quality of the products supplied or the installation of those products. Regarding the 'triple-stacking' of the siding, unfortunately you have been misinformed by your neighbor that is not familiar with the product that you purchased. The siding you chose is designed using a three-row seam that is designed to help the product lay flatter, as well as provide additional insulation to the walls. After receiving this review, we reached out the customer to inspect the siding to make sure nothing was happening that was unexpected. After a thorough visual inspection, the product still looks great and is performing as intended. In trying to find what may be visually bothering the customer, we offered to redo one wall where the seams of the siding were more visible from the direction of the patio where they entertain, but the ****** has not yet taken us up on that offer. It is important to stress that the product is installed exactly according to the manufacturers specifications and no 'shortcuts' were taken. Callen does not compromise on the quality of the products we choose or the installation methods required to install them.
