Please see our 7/20/20 BBB press release here: https://www.bbb.org/article/news-releases/22779-phony-vehicle-ads-circulating-across-the-us
The BBB Serving Wisconsin has been made aware of a dozen consumers who have become victims - or almost victims - of a scam using the BCO Logistics LLC name, since our file opened on June 4, 2020. BBB has received reports of consumers wiring money to this company acting as an "escrow agent."However, the vehicle/vessel was not delivered and the company ceased communication after receiving payment.
The firm claims a Mt. Pleasant address. However, it is not located in Mt. Pleasant.
On 6/19/20, the actual owner of the Mt. Pleasant property listed on BCO Logistics' website contacted the BBB Serving Wisconsin to inform us her address is fraudulently being used to perpetuate this scheme and she is in no way related or connected.
In addition, on 7/2/20 the actual Wisconsin corporation registrant contacted the BBB to inform us that his name and corporation name - BCO Logisitics LLC - are being used fraudulently. He and his actual company, BCO Logistics LLC, are in no way connected or related to this scheme of advertising, selling, storing or transporting vehicles used in "for sale" advertisements. In fact, the actual BCO Logistics LLC corporation is a personal corporation and not a company that is in direct contact with consumers.
Both of these individuals are the victims of Identity theft.
The actual perpetrators behind this scam are very likely located overseas.
Consumers report they responded to an ad found on either a social media site, local websites, Craigslist, third party "for sale" sites and others. The advertisements were for boats, cars, campers, recreational vehicles, skidsteers, trailers and various other vehicles for sale. Once the consumers made contact with the "seller" they were told that BCO Logistics was storing the vehicle and would make delivery once the money was received. Payment requested is wire transfer. The "seller" uses various names such as Patricia Church, Gloria Conner, Jennifer Gordon and Aline Tram among several others.
One consumer reported losing $3,000, another consumer reported losing $32,600 and a third consumer reported losing $41,900 via wire transfer. All believed they were buying a vehicle which would be delivered to their home.
The BBB urges extreme caution when paying via wire transfer, as this is an untraceable method of payment and, once you pay with a wire transfer, your money is gone with generally no way to recover it.
The website, bco-logistics.com, is newly created; Created May 29, 2020.
