This business owned by ***************************** the general contractor for our new home. We ordered Pella windows and doors for our home and paid for them. The patio door had several damaged areas on it from nicks to a cut in the vinyl. He tried fixing and looked horrible. We investigated more into the door with the Pella dealer and gave them the serial number off of door. The door was not a new door like we had paid for. They confirmed it was a door that had been installed in a home down the block 2 years earlier. ******* had taken that door out of that home and gave them our new door and installed the used damaged door in our home. We have held $4500 back from paying him because he needs to have a new door installed. He says he will not and has started the lien proceedings against our home for the money. We just want a new door as that is what we paid for. Then we will pay him the $4500 dollars.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[He did tell us that he felt the patio door should slide the opposite way.  He had called us at our ******* home.   We told him that if he felt it better that way we would ok it.  At that time yet we still trusted him to have our best interest in mind.   That did not mean it was ok to put in a used damaged door.   When we got back from ******* before we took position of the home is when we were aware of the flaws in the door.   So we investigated and found out he had taken it from another house that he had screwed up putting the wrong door in their house a couple years earlier.   It is all nicked up along the bottom track and a cut in door and other flaws.   He also did not let other contractors know that it changed so they put electrical in according to blueprints so switches are on wrong side.    We were also told by ***** that they did not install this door so it didnt have a warranty.   We would of never agreed to put in a used door.

As far as the general contracting fee that he says we owe, that is incorrect.  When we got his bid to build the home he told us some of the line items would go up and that the lumber price should go down.  We paid all the overages but did not pay him the savings on the lumber as the cost of the home was still over the bid price.

There are several homes that he has built in this community that have complaints and problems out there against him.  He was even let go as the contractor because of all these problems.

    Regards,
