They over charged me for months forcing me to call in once a month to get a credit for the overpayment. They told me that it was fixed and would not happen again, surprise surprise it happened again. Then, when I was one not even one month overdue (for a bill less than $200) they sent me to collections without so much as a phone call.

In 2020 I requested ATCO Energy to turn off my natural gas supply and terminate my contract with them. They agreed in both writing and verbally. I had made it very clear that due to health expenses I was no longer able to make my natural gas payments in the future and was the reason for cancelling the service. The ATCO representative fully understood the issue and made no reference to some strange occurrence I would suffer in the future... That is, even though I was fully paid and in the clear with ATCO that they would continue to charge me in the future because they never removed the meter. I disputed this issue until I was blue in the face with a whole lot of semantics and excuses that I needed to somehow make the request differently and they would love to help but had to keep charging me. I mailed registered letters, talked to different reps as how impossibly unfair this all was and never got a response from ATCO and therefore assumed it was all behind me; albeit I thought it was strange that ATCO did not send correspondence stating If I was in the right or if they were; it just ended. Turns out they simply handed the file over to a collection agency who harasses me continuously. It was all a huge error on the part of ATCO energy as it was very clear that I was cancelling my contract because I could no longer pay for future service and I obviously was not interested in having my gas turned off only to keep paying for there service due to some semantics. Why would I want to keep paying for natural gas when I clearly stated I was cancelling to NOT be paying a natural gas bill in the future. The experience was and continues to be causing me a LOT of STRESS! and I have still not received an apology 4 years later!!!! Cam
