I contracted the company to build my garage on feb ** 2023 with a expected completion date july *** 2023.The company didnt even start the job untill **** 2023.It has been constant problems,They placed the cement pad improperly causing another delay and once poured they did a horrible job that the contractor wont address. They sent in a electrician to wire the garage without a legal electrical permit. The electrician used used parts in the job that the contractor just laughed about.I requested a final inspection that has been ignored and i was just sent a bill asking for full payment. The city has refused to issue a final building inspection permit as i need to do furthor work to make it legal because the contractor failed to build the pad in the ************ location.

The business gave you improper documentation.

the quality control form they checked the boxes was filled out by them and the requested i sign it.

i put right on the bottom that the job wasnt completed.

the company has refused to solve or discuss issues with the garage.

obviously you side by the company regardless of the job done.

We contracted Alta Home in January 2022 to build a custom-specification, detached garage. The project was estimated to require 8 - 10 weeks to complete from the commencement date. The work commenced in late April 2022, proceeding until a significant delay related to the electrical work scope impacted the schedule. The electrical work was completed December 2022 but the timing forced a pause until the Spring 2023 ground thaw before the remaining exterior work scope could be completed. We met with Alta Home in early May to review the remaining work scope plus discuss several construction defects that presented themselves over the winter months that required repair. Alta Home agreed to complete the remaining scope and repair the defects per the agreement. We requested with urgency that Alta Home coordinate their work schedule so that the project be completed by the end of May. While Alta Home did complete some of the repair work in the second week of May, they indicated that they could not start the concrete repair work until an installed fixture was moved away from the affected area. We immediately arranged with the installer for removal and, on May 8, communicated to Alta Home via phone conversation that the site would be ready for them as of May 24.We communicated to Alta Home on May 23rd that the site was ready for them and that they complete the project by June 30 (now critical). Our expectation was they had time, using the two intervening weeks, to coordinate onsite availability of their crew on the 24th to restart work and complete the project. The subsequent communication from Alta Home was that they were not ready and we have not received further information. It is important to understand that all communication with Alta Home with respect to schedule and scope delivery had to be initiated by us. Also, all Alta ************* have been paid in full per our agreement and schedule with exception to the final payment due on project completion.

We, at Alta Home, acknowledge receipt of the complaint from our valued client. We appreciate their concerns, and regret any inconvenience caused throughout the project.
It's important to clarify that the initial **** week timeline indicated in our contract primarily covers our direct scope of work. This duration does not account for external factors such as delays in permitting, weather conditions, or unanticipated modifications to project scope. The significant delay relating to the electrical work was, unfortunately, a consequence of factors beyond our control, namely the ***************'s permit and inspection schedule.
In response to the construction defects mentioned, our team has been proactive and committed to remedying these issues in a timely manner. We had initiated some repair work in May and are prepared to continue as planned.
Concerning the concrete repair work, we genuinely thank the client for their prompt action in arranging the fixture removal. Our crew's schedule was communicated based on the status of the site at the time of the conversation. We must note that we strive to align our schedules efficiently, however, certain delays can occur due to factors like material availability, workforce capacity, and other ongoing projects.
We understand the urgency and the criticality of the project completion by June 30, and we're putting forth our best efforts to meet this timeline. We are committed to maintaining open and proactive communication with our client going forward.
Our priority has always been customer satisfaction and delivering quality work. We value the patience and understanding of our client in this regard and will strive to conclude this project to their satisfaction.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by Alta Home in reference to complaint ID ********. I find that their efforts, to date, to address our concerns with respect to completing the original work scope and replacement of the defective concrete pad are satisfactory.

Alta Home is proactively communicating work plans and when they will be on-site. Based on these interactions, I expect that the Alta Home will complete all of the original scope plus a majority of the replacement work by the end of June per our request. However, due to the time required for concrete to cure properly, I accept that Alta Home will not be able to repair/replace the epoxy floor finish until late July or August. It is my expectation that Alta Home will continue to be proactively engaged, communicating and coordinating with me, until the project is complete.

    Sincerely,
