We choose Good Earth Builders for a large renovation project at our new home and boy was that a mistake. They were the lowest cost option and I guess you get what you pay for. We started the project in early January and we were told the project would be done by the end of March. After a couple of minor scope changes, we signed off and agreed to a new completion date of April ****. It is now June **** as I write this and the renovation still isn't complete. The * month delay caused us to lose $**** in rental income that we would have made had we been in the house on time. Schedule was massively important to us in picking a contractor as we were living in a rental property that we own and any delays would be very costly as we would be paying for two mortgages and losing out on the rental income we depend on. But they assured us they would be on time. The owner of the company has avoided calls, texts, and emails repeatedly and refuses to sign off on a new completion date. When I have been able to get a hold of him, he has repeatedly screamed at me, blamed me for the delays, and continues to tell lies over and over again. In addition to the delays, the quality of work has been abysmal. We provided them with detailed drawings from a highly regarded interior designer, along with very specific measurements, and a selection sheet for all material and they have taken it upon themselves to change measurements, change materials, and change just about anything they please without consulting with us. They are treating this as if its a spec build that they are in charge of rather than a renovation for a family who is supposed to be making the decisions. We have one outstanding final payment (roughly $***) due to them once all work is complete. We would like them to commit to a concrete deadline for all remaining work, allow us to seek out other suppliers/trades for work they wont commit to, credit us for the lost rental income ($****), and allow us to move on with our lives.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

it is complete nonsense. The project is moving forward smoothly? How in the world is this smooth? Its July ***. This was supposed to be done April ****. There are numerous plumbing issues, cabinet issues, quality issues, etc. The list seems to be growing. And now we just found out that live electrical wires were left uncovered, in the open and literally could have burned down the house. And how does **** respond? Oh wait he didnt. Havent heard from him. Yes, this is going very smoothly

    Sincerely,
