    Never had a problem with any cab business in *******. (standard you pay they take you there and there is small chit chat in commute.)However on 10/20/23 My family just returned from a trip from LA and our return flight was at 11 PM with time to get luggage, customs etc we were out of airport around 12am with a almost 2 year old and 4 year old.We got help flagging down a SUV by a airport worker as we had 1 double stroller, 2 car seats, 3 pc of carry on luggage, 1 back pack. Upon flagging down the driver of Associated Cabs ****, said we needed a van. I told him we actually got dropped off by a hatchback so your SUV will be plenty of room. This was a 5 minute ordeal in 4C weather with 2 kids at midnight. I showed him how we loaded it by putting in stroller in back and all luggage stacked on top. Car seats were used and kids put in. My wife sat in the back and i sat in front. This was another 5 mins of putting in car seats etc.Once we were all seated the man told me his "counter wasn't working and he will have to charge a base rate of $50 cash only." I told him no its usually around $25-$30. He dropped his price to $40 cash. I told him this is not right and if your "counter" is not working you shouldn't be working. He replied it just happened last cab fare and its a ongoing problem for him. We could pick another cab (hinting we spent a lot of time already on waiting/talking/loading so it would be a waste of time.) I told him I will report you and my family got out and choose another cab. He claims he is not lying and I told him if you knew you start with "my counter is not working from the start before we load anything into your car".Very disappointed with this individual, I spoke with the airport staff and another cab driver that brought us home and both said they never heard or seen this happen before.
