    I recently had the unfortunate experience of hiring "From the Roots Up," a tree contractor I found on Kijiji. Despite their supposed BBB A+ rating, my encounter with the sole individual, "***," who handles all aspects of this company, has left me deeply dissatisfied and frustrated.Yesterday, I received a message from "***" stating that he could fit me in the following day. Excitedly, I called him at 9:00 am the next morning, but there was no answer. This lack of responsiveness was inconvenient and unprofessional.Later, at 11:40 am, I received another message from "***," confirming his arrival time of 1:45 pm. In response, I promptly messaged back, informing him that I would arrive around 2:00 pm and kindly requested that he wait for me before starting the work. To my surprise, his reply was a blunt, "No, I can't." This disregard for accommodating customer requests demonstrates a lack of professionalism and a disregard for customer care.Around 1:30 pm, I decided to call "***" again to check if he had arrived. During our conversation, he casually mentioned that he had already begun cutting the tree, despite my explicit request for him to wait. When I expressed my change of heart regarding the tree and asked him to pause the work for just five minutes until I arrived, he warned me that waiting any longer would result in additional charges. This approach is highly unacceptable and showcases a complete lack of professionalism and consideration for customer satisfaction.Moreover, during the course of our interaction, I was informed over the phone that cutting the thicker dead branches would require an extra charge due to their proximity to a powerline. This important information should have been disclosed upfront, rather than being revealed later. It gives the impression that "***" was actively looking for ways to collect more money from me.
