What business committed to provide you: Superpass card promises to provide “immediate notification of unusual transactions with exception monitoring”. Had notification been given to me “immediately”, these charges would have been determined to be fraudulent before the significant amount of charges were incurred. It took 14 days to receive any notification from the fraud department (via email Jan 6/25) and that only mentioned a “potential security issue” -not that one had actually occurred. Please see attached documentation-especially the email to the fraud department of suncor which was sent on Feb 23/25. To the writing of this complaint on Mar 10/25, there has been no response from either the fraud or legal departments of Suncor.
What the nature of the dispute is: Superpass has determined that I am responsible for all of the fraudulent charges although they did not provide me the security service they promised to avoid this type of incident and are not accepting any responsibility on their part. I have already paid for the charges that were legitimate, however, have not paid for the fraudulent charges as I feel they did not live up to their obligations and promises in relation to the Superpass card. They are hiding behind the terms and conditions of the card. They are also charging interest on the balance.
Whether or not the business has tried to resolve the problem: Through investigation of my own, I found that they did not contact any of the involved locations and they would not provide any documentation of their investigation when I requested it. Please see attached documentation with timelines of this situation for additional details.
PetroCanada advertises protection to their customers with the use of this card. They do not provide this protection. Details are included in the email to Suncor on Feb 23/25.
