Fixer-Up Inc. was contracted to complete a legal suite basement construction in May 2021. Construction began in June 2021. The business failed to complete the work within the 12 month building permit. An extension of 6 months was obtained at owner expense, and the business failed to complete the work under the extension. Upon permit expiry in Feb 2023 the project was terminated with a request for reimbursement for services paid for and material paid for and not delivered. Total Requested from Business: $5,332.36 - Base and Trim Materials paid in full (product not provided) - $984 - Fire Door paid in full (product not provided) - $426 - False wall paid in full (service and materials not provided) - $395 - Doors install paid in full (service not provided)- $875 - Permit reapplication (abandonment of project)- $402.36 - Flooring repairs and finish - flooring stage not completed, repair requires complete uninstall, leveling and reinstall. (stage paid in full) - $500 [Third party flooring company quote to fix flooring: $3,250] - Paint Final finish hall, window, closet, paint multiple repairs - paint not left on site (paid in full) - $500 - Drywall final paid in full (extensive repairs required, unfinished furnace room, significant damage repairs, improper install replacement) - $1000 [$4,000 to frame and drywall furnace room for code] - Mud and tape repairs due to installation errors (stage paid in full) - $250 [$2,185 to mud and tape] If doors and trim was delivered the corresponding reduction in reimbursement would have been acceptable. The refund was requested 20-Jan-2022. 3-Feb-2023 the business agreed via email to refund owed funds. The business insists on recovery of on-site tools prior to refund. Time and dates were provided for them to pick-up. They did not. The tools have been made available for 24/7 access and they have not picked-up tools. The contractor's work failed inspection, requiring re-inspection fee, and provided countless excuses for delays.

Had a fence installed and a gate put into an existing fence on August 15, 2022. After waiting 8 weeks for this to happen. With lots of excuses. I went out of town for bit. Came home and the first time I used the gate on Sept 7, 2022, the latch and only board he added snapped. Leaving us with an unusable gate. Was not built correctly or reinforced and was really poorly constructed with crooked cuts and it really looks horrible. I held it closed with a table. After multiple attempts to get this fixed he came on Sept 17 and said he didn’t bring anything to fix it and screwed another board on to keep the gate closed. After again multiple times of being told he’d be there tomorrow for a lot of days, I asked for a refund on October 5 and asked for some advice on social media. Never posting his name or company. This was one of the routes. He yelled at me for posting that but did he would refund the money but didn’t have the money till he gets paid. Agreed to Monday at noon. Never happened. Gave him till 430pm Monday 0ctober 10, nothing. He called me at 442pm yelling and swearing at me and said he’d even pay $50 extra and ended up hanging up after he told me wouldn’t pay if I posted his name. Again said Tuesday Oct 11 at noon. Nothing. Text last night the 11th said he had the money and is now ignoring all forms of communication on Wednesday October 12. The disrespect and constant lies and the time and effort I have put in for a resolution has failed and I am now out the cost of my gate. $496. And have a broken product that he did not repair and do not want him back after all our encounters. And feel we deserve a refund at this point.
