I got a notice from a peace officer on Dec 6th to move my truck within 72 hours. I had it arranged to be picked up on the Monday. It was towed a few hours prior to when I could arrange it. Tried for 3 days to contact the tow company for charges. They sent me a bill that was absolutely ridiculous and included the 3 days storage while i waited for a response. I contacted the Peace officer that had it towed. He said he agreed it was ridiculous and he would contact them about the charges. A week later I still hadn't heard from him. I contacted him again. I contacted the tow company again. Who claimed that they did try to get ahold of the peace officer. The *** company said they would talk to management about changing the bill. I still haven't heard back from them. All in all, there's no way I can afford it. I had somebody call for a quote for a tow from the same place to the same place distance wise and the bill is a quarter of the cost. They are taking advantage of the situation and I feel that it's completely unfair to consumers like me who are sick and can't pay the bill, but regardless shouldn't have to pay the bill that is that ridiculous? What was quoted should be more than suffice, whether it was arranged by a peace officer or not. Currently I am being financially forced to leave it there to incur more storage fees to the point that I'll have to sign over ownership grom the bill clombing too high which is what companies like this pray for.

I contacted ******* at Deck It Towing. He apologized for the bill and advised that that is what they  charge for police seizures and said they would adjust it. He asked what I hoped to see the bill to be. I said the amount quoted after the fact which was $298 with no storage fees. My reasoning is that if it were handled correctly in the first place I could've afforded to pick it up then. The only reason it has sat this long is the ridiculous charges that they refused to change prior..The new bil they have sent me is laughable..It does not help the situation what so ever and I am.not satisfied at all.

      Business Response

      Date: 31/01/2025

We are writing to formally respond to the complaint filed by ****** ****** regarding a towing service provided by our company, Deck It. We believe that we have made every reasonable effort to accommodate Ms. ****** and that this complaint is unwarranted.
Upon initial contact with Ms. ****** regarding her bill, we offered a discount in an attempt to resolve the matter amicably. Additionally, it has come to our attention that Ms. ****** has contacted our dispatch under a false identity to request a private tow estimate. As we have previously explained to her, private tows and emergency RCMP-initiated tows have different rate structures. Emergency RCMP tows are priced higher due to the expectation of an immediate response and priority service. Private tows, on the other hand, allow for more flexible scheduling, which can result in lower costs, particularly if a truck is already in the vicinity.
The estimate given to the individual posing as a private tow customer was naturally lower than an emergency tow rate. However, the core issue is that Ms. ****** was billed for the emergency service promptly and has refused to retrieve her vehicle. The storage fees for her vehicle continue to accumulate daily, yet she has made no effort to resolve the situation. In an effort to be fair and reasonable, we have already reduced her bill from the emergency tow rate to a private tow rate, yet she still refuses to pay.
At this point, Deck It has exhausted all reasonable accommodations, and we firmly believe that we have acted in good faith. Given our efforts to resolve this matter fairly, we respectfully request that this complaint be withdrawn.
Please let us know if any further clarification is needed.
