On June 22, 2015 BBB contacted Revolution Truck and Auto Center about an advertisement. The advertisement was about a contest run by Revolution Truck and Auto Center. The prizes offered included a $10 000.00 grand prize. The advertisement stated "See complete rules available at sponsor location for details.

BBB asked to see a list of winners and a copy of the contest rules.

Revolution Truck and Auto Center was unable to provide a list of winners or set of rules. They also informed BBB that the advertisement was not a contest, but a sales promotion.

BBB Code of Advertising states the following:

33. Contests and Games of Chance or Skill
33.1 If contests are used, the advertiser must publish clear, complete and concise rules and provide competent impartial judges to determine the winners.

33.2 Contests, drawings or other games of chance that involve the three elements of prize, chance and consideration constitute lotteries, in violation of U.S. federal and state statutes and must not be conducted. Canadian law contains similar prohibitions.
