    To whom it may concern,
I engaged Resumes with Results to help rewrite my resume. I was extremely dissatisfied with both the product they sent me and their attempt to improve the product.
I expressed that the new resume they sent me did not properly address the job I was applying for nor did it include any of the new additional information they had requested from me. It was just a simply formatted version of my old resume, something anyone with word processing skills could do. When they tried to improve the resume in time for the deadline for the job I was applying for, it was a rough and emotional experience culminating in *****, the business owner, crying on the phone to me, which was very difficult for me emotionally and deeply unprofessional.
I wrote to them on May 11 to request a partial refund. I received a professional response on May 15. In turn I offered a follow up email on May 16, but I have not heard from them since. Please see attached my email from May 11 outlining my reasons for wanting a partial refund. Thank you for your help to take this up with the business. Because I have not received a response in two months and *****, the business owner, cried when I expressed my discontent to her, I no longer feel comfortable going directly to the business for a resolution. Thank you for taking this up with the business and helping me find some support for a fair resolution. Kind wishes, ****** *******

    Business Response

It is unfortunate that you feel our collaboration has
failed your needs. From our perspective though, we feel it more than adequately
serves the needs of today's human resourcing. Since the introduction of the
Applicant Tracking System software that companies use to pre-screen resumes and
scoring key words, this has changed the way human resourcing is done and the old-style
chronological resumes we all grew up with are extinct by today's standards, thus  the “new and improved” resumes are called the
    Skills Based Resume.

Chronological resumes are being replaced with
skills-based resumes as the core of the chronological resume is based on the
career history with very little additional information. The old-school thinking
is one- or two-page resumes which greatly lacks in showcasing the value you can
offer the position. Resumes that lack information are usually just discarded.
Everyone that applies to the same job posting will have the core skills and experience
to do the job. Those applicants that supply a more detailed history, including
skills, abilities, knowledge and experience will make it to the top of the
interview list. This is why job interviews often seem like interrogations as
they seek more knowledge of your work history and what you can offer the
company above and beyond other applicants. This is the overview of the
differences in the two types of resumes.

To address your concerns, we will address them in the
    order they are presented.

Firstly, you stated “I expressed that the new
resume they sent me did not properly address the job I was applying for nor did
it include any of the new additional information they had requested from me.”
This is true to the extent that a resume is not meant as a complete biography
of your employment. A resume (also spelled résumé) is a formal document that
serves to show a person's career background and skills. A skills-based resume
is a strategic document to market your value to a potential employer. We did review
the additional information you supplied and felt it did not warrant inclusion
as it would not add value to the resume. This is also why we want our clients
to review the final document to see if there are any additions, exclusions, or
errors that need to be made. We did explain our reasoning but made any required
    adjustments. You approved these adjustments.

Secondly, you also state “It was just a simply
formatted version of my old resume, something anyone with word processing
skills could do.” We must disagree with this statement as the resume you
supplied was 4 pages (less if you removed the picture and redundant extra
spacing) whereas the master resume we created is 8 pages. We added much
additional content which did not exist in your resume.

Thirdly, you stated “ I wrote to them on May 11 to
request a partial refund.” We felt this was an unreasonable request for the
following reasons. Clearly stated in the contract for our services that there
is no refund for our services, which you agreed to. In this industry refunds
are not possible as everyone could then claim a refund and keep the written
works for no cost. Additionally, we spent much time with you via telephone
above and beyond the initial creation of the resume to address and correct any
information that was in error or missing. During the 4 plus hours we spent with
you in doing this, we explained the reasoning behind our word crafting and made
adjustments, inclusions, or deletion, which you approved. We always follow up
with our clients to see if any alterations are required. Additionally, after
the corrections were completed and approved by you, you then stated that you
would be using the resume for application the following day.

We would like to mention that we create a Master
Resume for our clients from which a resume for application can easily be made
by removing lines of information that does not serve the application, thus
making our document essentially universal, and therefore cost effective in not
having to rewrite the resume from scratch if you apply to a diverse range of
    employment opportunities.

We did note that this client was rooted in the
old-school mentality of chronological resumes and resistant to the new-school
methods of resumes today. As we explained to her, she paid for our writing
skills in this industry. Although we presented the information in a very
successful format, she was also informed that she can arrange her resume in any
    visual style she preferred.

It is unfortunate that a mutually satisfactory
resolution could not be resolved but since we have gone above and beyond at no
additional charge, we cannot entertain the idea of a refund in any part. We do
wish her success in her career path.
