Alberta Skylights refused to accept the waterfall through my kitchen ceiling was caused by their install of my new skylight, leaving me no choice but to hire another contractor to diagnose and fix the problem (which was indeed determined to be caused by Alberta Skylights install). They refused to reimburse the $519.75 repair, plus the $900 to repaint my ceiling to cover the water stains. They blocked communication and deferred me to their lawyer. After much discussion (and frustration), the lawyer relayed Alberta Skylights final offer to pay me $750, which I would get ONLY if I signed a settlement agreement (aka gag order), preventing me from reviewing Alberta Skylights or discussing my experience with my friends and colleagues. I refused the offer because Id rather share this terrible experience than settle for an amount that would cover only half my repair costs.I had invited them to diagnose and fix the problem, at which meeting Alberta Skylights refused to admit there could be any problem with their install because (he is) a Red Seal Certified Journeyman. At that meeting he used profanity and was arrogant and rude while he repeatedly denied any responsibility, so we hired someone else to fix the problem Alberta Skylights caused.I am shocked (in their response to this review when posted on ******* they would attempt to slander the very reputable contractor who diagnosed and repaired the problem Alberta Skylights caused. Alberta Skylights wrote: "Subsequently, you enlisted the services of an individual with a questionable professional track record." Shameful to try to shift blame to the person who fixed the problem they caused (and - through thorough testing - confirmed it was a problem caused by Alberta Skylights' install of the skylight).Alberta Skylights tried to blame other causes for the "rain" in my kitchen, but we have had no issues whatsoever since the other contractor fixed the install of the skylight, so Alberta Skylights is at fault

We have stopped communicating with you simply because it has become evident you are not interested in solving the problem, but rather creating friction. A brief recap...You contacted me on a weekend when I was not even in the country to let me know there was water coming in through your kitchen. I had a service tech there the following day, who found absolutely nothing wrong with the skylight. Given that the skylight had been on the house for well over a year at that point, with zero issues, and this was early in the spring during a thaw, also with no snow around your skylight, it was determined that the issue was most likely attic rain, which has nothing to do with the skylight. Despite this, we arranged a second meeting with your insulator to assess the attic for heat loss, where it was noted the pot lights were putting a fair amount of heat into the attic. It was also found to be indeterminate as to if the skylight well insulation was intact from the thermal scan. At this meeting, it was noted that a vent had cracked, so despite that having nothing to do with the skylight, I offered to replace both of the vents on your house at no charge to you, and to further the inspection to pin point the issue. Also of note, despite you harassing me at all hours of the evening, including on Sundays, I still showed up at no charge for what is clearly not a workmanship issue. You literally told me to "GET OUT OF MY HOUSE" at this meeting, and have told me I am not welcome to assess or fix this issue. You have demanded ridiculous amounts of money to keep you from posing reviews, which I declined. After much consternation and frustration trying to help you, it has become obvious that you are not interested in solving the problem, but rather in banging a drum. Well by all means, please feel free to do so. As for you comment that another contractor "fixed" the issue, yes, that individual does have a questionable track record, including folding at least two companies that I know of in the past handful of years, unpaid CRA bills, vehicles repossessed.... the list goes on. Despite this, their "fix" is irrelevant, as the skylight had not leaked once since we installed it, nor has it leaked since. The way the skylight is installed would not allow for his "fix" to have solved anything, in fact, it weakened the overall integrity of the system. The "leak" is attic rain, which would have been very simple to prove had you not thrown me out of your property. When I pointed this out to you, you were very quick to let me know attic rain would not come into the house. As for the hyperbolic "waterfall" in your kitchen, please feel free to post pictures of the "damages", I was at your house and could barely make out any staining whatsoever. I also have pictures should anyone want to see them.I have bent over backwards trying to help you on this issue, despite being convinced it was not anything to do with my workmanship or products. There is a reason I have as many 5 star reviews as I do, and only you as a negative one. You can not be satisfied, and somehow think that trashing me online is hurting me, when in fact I have had several customers tell me that the reason they chose me is because of your reviews. Please, keep posting them, I look forward to more happy customers who are sane. Just think for a second, why a contractor who has a flawless track record, would rather pay thousands of dollars in legal fees and take on all this negative publicity rather than just pay you off?
