The contractor, ******* **** was hired to grade and level my mother in law (***** *******’s) property over the course of three days. During this time, the equipment broke down. Only allowing the worker to work for 3 half days. He had told her that he needed her to give a deposit in order for him to start the work. So she had given him 40% unaware that he was not licensed to take deposits. On the last day, he left early with work uncompleted. After she messaged him back with dissatisfaction. She told him that she would like him to come back and fix the property so she could pay him the remaining $2000. He told her that he could not afford the gas to get there unless she sent him 1000 the night before. He proceeded to scream and swear at her over the phone and told her that he would put a lien on her property. She told him that if he completed the work that she would pay him no problem. After being threatened, she paid him $1000 in hope that he would show up July 19, 2023. After she waited patiently for him to arrive, he never did. She messaged him asking where he was, and got no response He had taken her money and the job is still incomplete. He also left a rental equipment on her property and told her that he will not deal with it because it was breaking down. She is now left to call the rental company to try and get them to collect their tools. I am writing this complaint on her behalf, as English is her second language.
