RIPPED OFF FOR $45,000 In 2021, I ordered 2 identical custom units from DropStructures. I only received 1 of 2 units. They sold the second unit to someone else and kept 100% of my $45,816 deposit that I already paid on it. The owner has gone radio silent. Now I'm down over $50K with everything else.Prior to signing any contract or payment, I made the following explicitly clear to DropStructures:1) I wanted to order a custom unit.2) The custom unit will require a permit.3) The custom unit must be compliant with the 2018 IBC code. Reason I only received 1 of the 2 identical units is because the custom units I contracted them to build was actually NOT built to code despite paying $5K to have their draftsman perform building planning services before signing the purchase contract and their sales rep reassuring me in writing that it meets all requirements for the 2018 IBC. In April 2022, I had to hire a law firm specializing in Land Use/Zoning issues (at my own expense) to confirm this fact. The attorneys advised me that the reason I was able to get the first custom unit approved for a permit was because essentially I just "got lucky". The app for 2nd unit was assigned to a different plans examiner and was denied. It is legally within a county's right to approve certain things at their discretion.Yes, DropStructures is also very much aware of all this. This is why they did us a "favor" and sold our 2nd unit to someone else, under the guise that they would give us our money back after that happens. They sold the unit but did not tell us. We found out a month later bc we asked about it. November 2022, we hop on a call with the owner and he offers us $14,000 back (yes, you read that correctly) because "they lost money on it" and in "we're all going to cry a little... you're going to cry a little".Adding insult to injury, they love to promote photos of my unit on their website and social media without crediting me. Instead they delete my comments.
