This company just doubled my rent. The laundry machines have suddenly started taking 2 times as much to do the laundry and for the second year in a row they have put a cap on the heat in my apartment that has heat included. I've been here 6 years and have never been late with payments. I'm going to have to call the tenant act to get it looked at as I don't trust the maintenance people. Last time they were in I caught them snooping around on my security ****** suggest staying away from red key. I wish I could leave them a worse review

Hello, this tenant's rent went from $850 to $1150 as per the request of the property owner AND he received a $150 discount for the first 6 months. That means his rent increased by $150 for the first 6 months beginning March 1st and them $300 for the last 6 months beginning September. Red Key does not own any property. Our clients are the property owners and we carry out our clients instructions. That is our responsibility to them in our management agreement. These new rates are set by property owners, not Red Key. We had a few complaints regarding the dryers taking quite a while to dry. We had them serviced and the dryer vents cleaned 2 weeks ago. The contractor also extended the time per drying cycle. The contractor also mentioned that tenants are overloading the machines in an attempt to save money and this also prevents proper drying. There is no way to put a cap on his heat. The system serves the entire building through a boiler and is completely free for all tenants. Regarding the maintenance issue, the contractor was in the unit in March 2023 to perform a specific task and his work order says "do other small repairs if needed". He was simply looking to see if there were other small repairs that needed his attention. We have spoken to the tenant about this last March.

I'm glad to finally open up and let everyone know how horrible this company is. When we moved in to our rental at ********************************* in *******, the previous tenants left it dirty and disgusting with many issues wrong with it. The owners of the house were very cheap and did not want to fix the issues at hand, so it was slowly done over time. Myself and my husband started getting sick from the house and we couldn't find out why....turns out there was black mold! We knew it wasn't safe to live there and had to break our lease due to health concerns. They ended up renting it out before we left so we didn't pay the cost to break the lease, however, they charged us $700 for cleaning. This was absolute nonsense as we left the house sparkling clean, they just wanted to be ***** with dust on lampshades...absolute nonsense! The lady doing the inspection was absolutely rude as well. Everything was complete and utter lies written on the inspection report, it was just so they could ***** money from us. By the way, we came back to the house to get my other vehicle and never once throughout the night did a cleaner come before the next person moved in. They are ****** ********, and they have now put a second tenant at risk health wise with the black mold in the house. I have notified AHS about the health hazard that that house is. By the way, if anyone who reads this is around ************************, please let them know about the black mold...I know Red Key won't. Do yourself a favor and go with another property rental group...these guys are **** ******** ***** *** *******!

We are extremely disappointed that the tenants who lived at the address did not feel comfortable reaching out to us before they went public with their complaint. When the tenants initially moved in, a move in inspection was conducted. There were a few items marked as needs cleaning at that time. They were mostly light fixtures and some appliances. The tenants were not required to have these items clean when they vacated and they were not charged for any cleaning of these items that we were required to do . As for the $700 charge, that was an interim statement which we are required to present to tenants within 10 days of their move out inspection. The final statement, which was provided within 30 days (as required by law), we adjusted the charge to reflex the ACTUAL amount which was $557.61. Those charges were for cleaning of items and carpets that were initially marked as clean on their move in. As for the allegation of the mold, they informed us of this when they wrote it on their Notice to Vacate which was dated July 29th for an Aug 31st vacate. We conducted their move out inspection on August 31st, *************************************************** source of mold. We have never had a mold complaint at this property by any previous tenant or by the current tenant. Shortly after the move in, the tenant reported allergy-like symptoms which we immediately addressed by having the furnace and ducting professionally cleaned. This property has always been a pet friendly property and we thought cleaning the furnace would mitigate the issue. To the best of our recollection, the tenant did not contact us again regarding this issue until the notice to vacate. Our relationship with these tenants was strained from the beginning. They chose to break their lease and move out early. We did everything possible to re-rent the property quickly so they would not be responsible for the remainder of their contract and we waived the $500 lease break fee. We also saved them thousands of dollars (3 months rent and utilities) by successfully re-renting the property immediately, making them NOT responsible for the final 3 months of their lease. We have never had mold complaints from and previous tenants or from the current ones. It is important to note that the tenants signed both the move in and the move out inspections stating that this report fairly represents the condition of the premises. Tenants are educated at move in and move out that if they do not agree with the inspection, they can check the box that states the tenant/tenants agent disagrees that this report fairly represents the condition of the premise because:

The house was not cleaned prior. That is a lie. We were told that it wouldn't be as we wanted to move in earlier which we were ok with. The inspector that came in was not a mold expert nor did she look for the mold where we told her it was, so that's also a big lie. We had to sign off in order to leave. We were moving to a new place and we refused to live in a mold ridden home. They did not clean after us and like I said i have proof as I came back to the house several times after to grab my vehicle and such and there was no cleaner there. I even have a picture and video proof to show it. For dust on lamps and little things like that we should've never had that money deducted. I already reached out to the business about my frustrations with them taking so much money but they didn't care, hence why I took this one step further. Of course they are going to lie and represent their business - they are in the business of making money and they should've done the right thing and refunded our whole deposit and we wouldn't have this issue to begin with. What they did was awful and for anyone seeking a local rental place, don't go with this company. We've never ever had issues with rental companies before. Had one in **************** ** that took care of any issues right away, they were there when needed and actually answered our calls, and when we moved out we got our full deposit back - the place was clean just like how clean it was with this place - except red key stole money basically. Not only that but you want to go into issues, here is one...my husband and mother in law were away and the door would not lock. I couldn't reach their maintenance person for a long time until finally i did. Was worried about safety reasons and they wouldn't come that night and made me wait until the mid day the next day to fix it. So there I was with a chair against the door and I couldn't sleep. Not only that but there are some seedy people our that way, one that actually entered our house in fact. That should've never happened, they should've come right away to address the issue. They could've paid a locksmith but they were too cheap too - you know they work 24 hours right? No help at all. By the way, the furnace cleaning was delayed waiting for approval from the owner and top that off with the fact that they were almost too cheap to cover the big mound of leftover dog p*** with dirt and fix the broken deck the previous tenants left for us - those things almost didn't happen. You guys want to keep lying? Go ahead! But there's the whole truth laid out. You want to make this right? Refund the rest of our deposit and I'll gladly take all my reviews down - otherwise all of it will stay put. You are not customer based and you're cheap. We will never recommend you to anyone in red deer or surrounding areas.
