On October 28, 2023 I custom ordered a frame for a painting. November 30th, 2023, I phoned the Cabinet Of Curiosities, to see how they were making out. The first person I spoke to said it would be done the next day. I phoned back to confirm it was done as I live outside of Stettler so did not want to make a trip if it wasn’t complete. The second person I spoke to said they had three different frames made up which I thought was very odd as I CUSTOM ordered a specific frame and that they were in their Red Deer store. They told me they would have them at the Stettler store on Saturday. Again I phoned to ensure it was done, it was not but I was informed it would be on Monday. They are not even open on Mondays. After another call I finally had it picked up on Friday. My husband picked it up so I did not see it until he arrived at home with it. 1st, it was not the frame I ordered, the frame had a chip out of the corner, the one corner did not line up, and there were several paint drips on all sides of the frame. I immediately contacted them {and even sent pictures to a cell number the second lady I spoke to gave me} they would not reply. I have a copy of the text message I sent.

    Business Response

    Hello,

I have looked through my cell phone for a text and  have indeed found the text. One text.   However, she did not call or email or make any other attempt to discuss the problem or resolve the issue with us prior to contacting you.  Texting is not a normal method of contact for our business or most business. I have spoken previously with her by telephone several times and that is our normal means of communication. During the last communication, I did tell her that we had issues with the frame she had ordered and had a substitution. I also apologized for the delays as we were having supply chain issues with a manufacturer.  I did discuss with the individual that we did make changes, and  told her at the time that if she didn't like the frame we would happily exchange it for one of 2 other frame mouldings ( we had ordered 3 possible framestyles as substitutions) that would work, if she was not satisfied with it. We have always been willing to repair or replace the frame. Looking at the pictures, I can see that the frame obviously missed inspection. Had it been known to us or discussed with us we would have easily and happily replaced it for a frame that is constructed to our high standards.  Having already given her the assurance that if she didn't like it we could replace it with another, I am uncertain why she would choose to launch a formal complaint rather than call or email. Christmas is a very busy time and sometimes things get missed and need to be fixed. No one is perfect. This could have been dealt, with a simple telephone call. I will gladly assist her in replacing the frame.
