On September 21, 2024 we purchased a new car from Legacy Dodge in Wetaskiwin Alberta. We are from ************ and know we have to pay the Provincial Sales Tax on our purchase as we have purchased vehicles out of province before. We agreed on a price and a value for our trade in vehicle ($21,700).We did not discuss the sales tax with the sales person or finance manager (***** *****) until the paperwork was done. At this point ***** explained he had added the sales tax to the financing amount and that Legacy Dodge would cut us a cheque for the amount of the sales tax, give it to us, so that we could pay the sales tax in ************ when we registered the car. This was not what we wanted as we thought we would just pay the tax out of our personal account, but because the paperwork was already done and we had another engagement we needed to get to we decided to just leave it as ***** had set up. However, then ***** **** us their accountant was not in that day, so they would have to mail us the cheque. We explained to ***** that we were leaving the country in a few days and therefore mailing the cheque did not work for us. We asked that they either e-transfer the money ($2,916) to us or wire the money directly to our bank. We gave ***** all our banking info to accomplish this. A week later ***** phoned us saying we had to provide a copy of our registration before they would send the money. This was a new condition that had not ever been told to us before. I questioned ***** as to why the money had not yet been sent. Again ***** demanded we first send a copy of our registration. I asked ***** for the name and address of their lawyer as I no longer had any faith Legacy Dodge would do what they said. A week or so later **** ******* ******** ******** emailed me and after a few emails he said would I agree to send the car registration once we received the money. I said thats exactly what I had said all along. After 5 weeks still no money received by us.

In November of 2022 I was contacted by a salesman from Legacy Dodge about trading in my vehicle. I went into the dealership, they showed me the 2022 Ram Sport but because I hadn't had the 2021 Dodge Durango for a year that I would have to still make payments on the Durango until April of 2023. I was giving a cheque for $5000 and used that to make the payments on the Durango and the payments for Ram Sport out of pocket. My insurance payments doubled as a result of having both vehicles under my policy from $304 to $587 a month. When April came around and I was struggling to pay the $485.92 for the Durango and the $584.09 for the Ram Sport on top of the $587 for insurance I was hoping that what they promised me would take effect and I would be able to bring in both vehicles trade them and consolidate for a loan with only one payment for a different vehicle and that would be it. I was told that my credit rating had dropped from 650 to 620 and there was absolutely nothing that could be done for me. They promised me that that was how it was going to go down, bring in the vehicles work on a new loan and get into something else but since April all I've been getting told is they can't help me. Now I'm struggling to pay off both vehicles I make $1085 a cheque bi weekly leaving me with $10.00 my credit cards are maxed out, I'm constantly using my over draft to buy essentials and cover my insurance payments I just want them do something about this.

    Hi There,

I connected with ***** yesterday. He understands he can trade both us his units back to us when he gets he qualified co-signer. He promised to find someone in the family to help him out so we can process his new loan so he only has one payment and one vehicle insurance. He has my cell number to reach out to me anytime.

The case can be closed as we are communicating directly with him now and here to help in whatever way we can.

    Thanks,
