April 3rd 2023 I brought my car to Josephs Auto Shop, After an inital look over I was told possible a head gasket had blown and would need repairing. After further investigation a valve and headgasket needed replacing/repairing. After discussion with my mom (who would be helping me pay for repair) we said yes to the head gasket and valve and were given an estimate of $1200-$1800 repair. Same Day April 3rd A payment of $500 was made. After 16 days of having my vehicle myself and my sister dropped by with additional payment of $1000.00 and at which I told mechanic my total budget is $2100-$2200. And He was very understanding even apologized the work was taking so long/ wasnt done yet and felt remorseful that the car was in such dismay. After receiving the cash payment within a matter of days mechanic and workers knowingly went over budget without my knowledge or approval. so after an additional 10 days of going over budget I texted to see when my car would be ready to find out the car still needed parts, and the bill would be DOUBLE what I could afford. ****** now refuses to give my car back until I pay of **** double of what I initially agreed to.

The quote we gave was at the very beginning, before we knew everything that was wrong. and even then, we said it would be a starting price, your mother told us money was no issue aswell.

i understand the frustration but we couldve not finished at all and had the engine taken out and not put back in. and stayed at **** and you would have to spend more somewhere else for the job to be finished.

it is our responsibility to tell YOU the price of our work, not for you to tell us how much it will cost.
