On Saturday April 8th at 10 am I had taken a driving ****** with Integrity driving school. I had prepaid for 2 ******s and the use of their car for a rental for my driving test. When I took my first ****** there was an incident where I had backed up with my instructor and the back of the bumper hit a cement block causing the paint of the vehicle to have peeled off and have scratches. I had never been in this situation prior so I was not aware of what to do, I had contacted the **** insurance company and they had told me I would require the insurance information from the company, I had also contacted integrity asking them what I can do from there, they pretty much told me that I was required to pay for the damages before they would allow me to continue with the ******s, they definitely tried to intimidate me into paying. I had informed them that this can go through insurance and that I would not be able to pay and if they werent going to allow me to continue to do my driving ******s then I would like to get a refund from them and the rental car package I paid for. After this they have not replied to any of my emails and have been ignoring me, and will not refund me or allow me to continue my ******s. I also contacted the local **** office to request that they contact them for insurance information so I can submit it to ****, the **** told me that they are allowed to go through a private repair shop if they wish but I should not be at fault for paying for damages just because they are refusing to go through insurance. I would really like a refund of the rest of my ******s & what I paid to rent the car, they are withholding it from me and will not contact me back.Thank you

    Business Response

    Date: 09/05/2023

I am writing in response to the recent allegations made by **** regarding the driving ****** incident and subsequent interactions with Integrity Driving School. I would like to emphasize that the allegations made against me are completely unfounded and untrue.

On April 8th, incident took place with the complainant. Student failed to stop when instructed to do so and ran into concrete blocks while reversing, even though she was instructed to stop several times.  Fortunately everyone was ok and no property damage was sustained and student apologized to instructor and told her she would take care of the damages. Car suffered paint and bumper damages requiring a new bumper, new paint and new vinyl wrap applied to the rear of the vehicle.

**** followed up with our office and left a voicemail that she would take care of damages and that she was sorry.   ********** followed up next business day over the phone and **** said voluntarily that she would take care of the damages but requested an estimate.  We went out and got an estimate for repairs which totalled to approximately $1000.  When the office notified her of the estimate provided by body shop things changed. Her tone changed and she said she can pay by ********* later that evening.  Later that evening the office heard back from her via email stating she would like a refund for the ******s already completed and rental of vehicle. She made unfounded allegations about the instructor.  We do not provide refunds on ******s already completed as for the rental a voicemail was left to pick up a cheque for for rental of the vehicle for the roadtest minus admin fees. We opted to not go thru insurance which is our choice and go private so it does not have any effect on our insurance premiums.  How can **** say she felt intimated to pay when she volunteered to pay for damages to the instructor , she volunteered to pay for damages  via phone over a voicemail  and she volunteered to pay for damages with office support and requested a written quote. Furthermore she requested not for ** to cancel her road-test rental which is clearly Stated if you fail to demonstrate unsafe behaviour during training we have the right to deny the rental of the vehicle. Since **** has made unfounded and untrue accounts of her actions we retained counsel to address the matter in court.

I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a prompt and satisfactory resolution.
