I had The One Carpet Cleaning company clean my carpets and two sofas. The company quoted me $350 for the work by email and up to $200 in additional fees verbally which I accepted. When the work was completed the owner sent me an invoice for over $900 dollars. When I asked him about the difference and said I should not have to pay above what he quoted me he got very aggressive and verbally abusive. He then send the amount owing the next day to a collection agency called ****. **** threatened to damage my credit rating unless I paid them $790 dollars. I will pay them this amount to avoid having my credit rating impacted. I feel I was unfairly treated by The One Carpet Cleaning Company and he used my credit rating to force me to pay an amount I did not fully owe. It was like extortion. I have an email records of my communications with the company including the quoted amount. I also have email communications with the debt collection agency ****. I also found out later that the owner of The One Carpet Clearing company recorded our phone conversations without my permission (he told me he did so) but do not have copies of those recordings. That also seems unethical to me. The amount he quoted me in the phone records will be the same/similar to what he quoted me in the email that I attached. The quality of the work the company did was also very poor. I suspect he may not have used any cleaning chemicals when doing the work to save costs.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/12/2022

    Dear Sir

I'm Greg L** of The One Carpet Cleaning

In response to this complaint please find attached the voice recording of the original quote for carpet cleaning and urine treatment 400 for carpet 200 urine treatment totalling $600 + gst
He then sent me pictures for furniture to quote which I said I  normally charge 350 to which I said If you do all I will give you some deal.
Total of both quotes is 950 +gst.
I charged him 900 + gst on the invoice.
Hes trying to say I quoted 350 plus the urine treatment for everything.
There is no mention of the urine treatment price or carpet pricing in the emails as they were done verbally but mentions it quoted in the texts. Selectively omitting the 400 for the carpet.
Also attached is a photo of his master bedroom carpet half cleaned to show how dirty it was.
    Texts also forwarded here.

Much of his statement is false.
I 100% used the best cleaning products on this job.
I'm more convinced he's simply trying to cheat a small business out of proper payment.

Id also like to mention he lied about the audio recording to you as I clearly texted it to him.

    Shown in forwarded texts.

    Another point to mention.
I did not send him the bill.
I wrote the bill and handed it to him when finished the work.
He did not question or dispute the price at that time.
I went over the charges with him, and explained the discount. He even asked if he went and got me cash if he could save the tax.
    I said no.
I would like to clearly state at this time I am willing to make a Notorized statement under oath that everything thing I have said is 100% true and factual as I know it.
I would also be willing to take a polygraph test.

I have been in business 10 years and have one of the best reputations in the lower mainland and around 250 reviews online. All of which are 5 or 10 star. None describing anything of the nature of these accusations.
Feel free to search my phone # online and read for yourself ************
    My reputation speaks for itself.

This has been the most bizarre occurrence as a service operator in my life.

If you require anything else please ask.
The audio pretty much says it all.

    Best regards

    Greg
