A man named James from ProStar paving entered ***** ***** ***** June 13, 2023 and said they were paving at the ***** *** ***** ***** and would be able to use the millings to pave our parking lot. James said the end result would look just like the highway. After some back and forth and some pressure to decide right away as the they were finishing up at the power plant we agreed to try one load. Within half an hour multiple trucks, heavy equipment, and workers began to clear away some of our gravel base from around our front walkway. Over the next hour or so they laid a pad of asphalt down about 50' long and 30' deep. It looked and felt great. It really did look like a nicely paved driveway. James had me agree to continue paving with a second and third load ultimately agreeing to a total of $15000. James said they would come back and seal it with bitumen in 2-3 weeks and then paint the parking lines on after that when they paint the highway lines. James said we would be doing them a favour as they would have to pay to discard the remaining paint and bitumen at the end of a day. So if they could use it on our parking lot we would be helping them out. I pressed James before giving him the check that I would seal the asphalt myself if they were not going to be coming back. He assured they absolutely would come back to seal the parking lot and paint the lines. I gave James a certified cheque for $15000 made out to Prostar Paving. Four days later it rained and the asphalt disintegrated becoming no more than just plain gravel. I attempted to call Prostar but their phone number is not in use. Their email, website, physical address, and HST numbers are all not real either. It was simply a fly by night scam. I have paid an additional $5000 to a local sealing company but unfortunately allI am left with is a black and brown gravel parking lot.
