I rented a vehicle from the dock in Bella Coola, the fuel was at 3/4 full at the time we picked up the vehicle. I was not aware they include insurance was included in the rental fee until I got the receipt. They contact me on September 12, 2024 regarding the fuel, he indicated he wanted charge me $105.76 for filling up the vehicle on September 7th. I had the vehicle for 4 hours, the gas gage was at 1/2 full I filled back up to 3/4 full before we returned to the dock. Not sure what the drop fee is for, the car was already parked at the dock. I emailed him regarding the gas when I picked up the car, he offered to charge me half the cost to fill up the vehicle $53.00. I didn't agree to paying the $53.00, I got a text they charged me for the gas. I can understand if he contacted me on August 29th when I returned the car, not a week later. There could have been another customer the rented the same ******************** after August 29th, he could have charged someone for the gas as well. Not professional at all. I'm going to contact my credit card to dispute the charge.

It appears that communications were not clear between us and this client. We have no record of the fuel tank not being full at the time of rental. We would have made adjustment to the original invoice if we had known. The drop fee is the cost of delivering and retrieving the vehicle from the airport to the harbour. Those details are well described on our website where the client made the initial reservation. No other clients had the vehicle prior to us charging the client for part of the fuel refill. I wrote to enquire why the client hadn't refuelled and was told about the tank not being filled on pick-up. I suggested that I would charge 1/2 of the fuel bill and had no response. I still don't fully understand the situation for that but intend to refund the $53 as I believe the miscommunication is not reconcilable. I intend to review our reservation for to identify any opportunities to clarify our policies and processes. Our practice of relocating vehicles to the harbour for the benefit of the boating traveller has been very well received and we will continue to offer this service.
