On January 28, 2025 I purchased a Baby Lock Allegro sewing machine Serial # ********* from *** ******* at ******* Quilt Shoppe in ******* B.C. for $1768.03.. It was in factory packaging with much Styrofoam tightly packed . The automatic needle threader would not work (which was one of my main reasons for choosing this model) so I threaded it manually. After sewing for a few minutes the Gutermann thread I was using broke and I had to rethread the machine. This happened 4-5 times more inside about 2 hours with me having to manually rethread the needle each time, bunched up fabric, stopped for no reason while the control pedal was still being pushed... and would continue sewing 8-10 more stitches after I took my foot off the pedal. I tried it out for 8 days and after much frustration, gathered the machine & the attachments up and returned it on February 5, 2025 to ******* Quilt Shoppe in *******. I live one hour drive away or I would have returned it sooner. I spoke with *** *******, explained my issues, told him that the machine just didn't work for me and requested a refund. He flatly refused. I left the machine and all accessories with him He told me he would have the sewing machine repair man look at it and call me. I offered to leave him a copy of the original invoice but was told he didn't need it , he had the information in his computer. I never heard from him so on February 25, 2025 at 9:30 AM I returned to ******* Quilt Shoppe, spoke with *** ******* and was told that ' no way would I get a refund because I did not provide the original packaging' . I explained that I could not possibly know the problems with the machine until I tried it out which required removing it from the packaging. Also that it would be impossible for me to 'repackage' i as it was very tightly packed in Styrofoam. I had given him 3 weeks to get back to me and hadn't heard a word from him. I do not want the machine back, or a credit. I only want a refund of $1768.03.

    Business Response

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your Baby Lock Allegro sewing machine purchase. We appreciate your business and understand that this has been a frustrating experience for you.
As stated on your receipt and our website, all sales are final, and we do not offer refunds, particularly on sale items. Our return policy does, however, allow for store credit or a replacement in cases where a machine is found to be defective.
We were not contacted immediately when you first encountered issues with the machine. However, when you returned it on February 5, we offered to have our certified service technician inspect it to identify and address any concerns. Since you stated that you did not want the machine back, you left the store without confirming whether you wanted the inspection to proceed.
On February 25, our technician completed a full inspection and found no issues with the machines operation. Additionally, we offer lifetime free lessons to assist customers in getting accustomed to their new machines, and we would be happy to provide that service should you require assistance.
Although we are unable to offer a refund, we remain committed to finding a resolution. As per our return policy, we are happy to offer you a full store credit for the purchase amount, which you can use toward another machine or any other products in our store. If the machine were unrepairable, we would have gladly replaced it, but since no faults were found, a credit remains the best option.
We truly value you as a customer and hope to assist you in finding a solution that meets your needs. Please let us know how you'd like to proceed.
    Best regards,
