I contacted the Tack Addict after looking at a number of articles on line that were available. I found the staff and the owner, courteous and very helpful. I was very pleased with the help and attention I received while in the store. I am thankful a shop like this is available to horsemen.

After taking a 35% commission off items sold through the store, they also charge a $2.00 "processing fee" when you ask to collect your funds "because the bank charges us". I would say that is a fee related to running a business and should be a cost they pay themselves, not put onto their customers/product suppliers.

Hi ********, As previously discussed with you it is not something we hide. Taking a percentage of the sale is how consignment works. You might feel that we are already taking a lot of money but when you consider the operating expenses and staffing fees we pay we are lucky if in the end it is more than 5%. All of our fees including the e-transfer fee is disclosed in our contracts. After you stated you do not recall signing an agreement we simply stated we would payout the $2.00 deduction and all remaining items with no fee. At the end of the day, e-Transfer is offered as a convenience to our customers - it saves you the time and gas money to pick up other forms of paymen* ****** * ** ******* ** *** ** * ***** *** **** **** ******, this is not something we are required to offer. It is not uncommon for a business to factor in operating costs to prices of good or other payouts. If we were an entirely retail, not consignment base store, the additional costs associated with products ie: shipping, duty, banking fees would be factored into the price of these goods. As we are a small business and have a lot of overhead we simply cannot absorb all costs or we would not be able to stay in business. A lot of our profit from the sale of a consignment good has been spent already with the wages of paying staff to price, clean (if need), photograph, list on the website and tag the items. That is all something we cover upfront and doesn't even begin to include day to day costs. We have done all we could on our end to make this right for you but clearly that is still not enough. Understanding the workings of a business is complicated. This is all information we have already explained and provided to you. We appreciate the time you took to share your concerns so other people could as well see this response if they were to ever have any questions, but this has not been something we have had an issue with in the past.

The Tack Addict is under brand new ownership/ management so everything said in the reply about things being previously discussed with me is inaccurate. Further to this, the new owner choose to have “pick all remaining items or they could be donated”. I choose to pick up up the remaining items and while I was there it is clear that NOW new clients are being asked to sign a contract - which was not present with the original owner. Now when ownership changed was I contacted to come in a sign an agreement. The simple basis of all of this is based on contract laws and agreements, which none of which were followed. If a company is hiding fees, it is misrepresenting itself and commuting fraud. The matter is now closed as I have been requested to pick up my items and basically in a polite be not be allowed to do business with them any longer. *** * ********** *** ** *** * *********
