    I’d just moved in with many projects to do and met Mark after calling Glacier Pipe to check my perimeter drains as the crawlspace had been full of water. I did resolve that immediate issue with ******* ********* another company who cleaned everything out and put in a sump pump but wanted to resolve the perimeter drain issue. He gave me a reasonable quote to come and just dig to the “T” that another company had marked above ground to where drainage would go out to the property. (Prior to my ownership) **** *** ***** ****** ** **** ***** *** ****** ****** ** **** ****** ** ****** *** ******* *** ****** ** ***** *** ***** *** ****** *** ***** ******* ***** **** **** ******* ** *** ** ** **** ********** I told him I didn't see the point as they were not being used. Long story short and much time being wasted doing nothing and charging $100 per hour for it, he told me I’d have to have my porch dismantled and all the cement around my house dug up to fix the problem. He also had his friend come along who was basically doing nothing and I was being charged an additional $85 per hour *** *** **** ** *** ***** ****** ****. He walked around my property to see my pond for a leisure walk and went in my crawlspace for no reason and then charged me for it. I found much more cost effective and useful ways to solve my problem than anything he had to say.

    I attended the property and did a perimeter drain scope, we dug down to the marked area where the pipe leaving the building, we scoped it and found it was full of rocks to the right of her porch. I told her we would have to dig down to it to clear out the rocks from the perimeter drain which was lying under a garden bed. She decided not to do that, she asked me to find the discharge for the perimeter drain to the pond which was extra work. We did an exploratory hole and was not able to find the end of the perimeter drain discharge. I told her to dig down to the one spot it was estimated to about 4 hours, she added more work while we were on site and she asked us to cover the lawn with plywood to minimize any damage to the lawn with the secondary hole that she asked us to do. We scoped the perimeter drains around the whole house and scoped the out flow drains also. We charge on these jobs cost plus basis.
    We also facilitated a new electrical panel with Aiki Electric in the house.
    We did what she asked and did the work on a cost plus basis as per the contract she signed. There was no complaint about the cost plus work in the house to facilitate the work in the house for the electrical panel.

    In Sept 2022, Mark visited and offered an estimate for perimeter drain repair of $20-30k. Driveway replacement was estimated at $9k. Work would take 3-4 wks. Based on this est., I signed a contract in good faith and the work commenced.
    Just about nothing Mark suggested came true. The cost ballooned to $127k. The time was 5 months. The 3-person crew at premium cost ($85/hr) included Mark's 74yo buddy. I repeatedly asked that costs be reined in, but these were ignored. Late in the project, I found that there were minimum hours for equipment that were not identified in the contract. Despite repeated requests, Mark was evasive on minimum hours for workers.
    Through the project, all materials were bought, and I was charged a 28% surcharge. When concrete was to be poured, I suggested that the invoice come directly to me, understanding that I would not be charged the $2100. Mark agreed. The charge remained on the final invoice. I paid, thinking I had $2100 credit for some follow-up work. The work was completed at exorbitant cost with no sign of the $2100. When Mark provided final accounting from the drain project, despite the project being complete, the accounts were cooked to add 24 work hours of additional charges. Truly deceptive action. There were issues with the second project which need repair, actions which Mark is not addressing.
    * Predatory cost estimates.
    * Overcharging. Ignoring requests.
    * Hiring a marginally competent and overpriced worker.
    * Cheating on agreed refund amounts by manipulating accounts.
    I greatly regret having trusted Mark and hiring he and his company. ***** ** * ******** **** * ******* ** ***** * **** **** *** *** *** **** ****** **** **** ***********

    The job for Pat Shaw was a contract for a cost-plus basis. He read and signed the contract for the job on a cost-plus basis. We don't know what we will find when we start digging on a job. His house was built on hard pan and dug out like a bowl, so when it rained the water collected around the house and into the basement. Pat was home during the job and made all the decisions, he instructed and approved all the work done on an hourly and daily basis. Pat kept adding extras to the job and he was updated on the cost of the job on a weekly basis with spreadsheet invoices of all work done. At the end of the job, Pat added on a driveway that needed to be dug out of the hard pan ground and he wanted coloured stamped stairs and sidewalk and a secondary colour for the driveway and the shape of the driveway changed and more of the hard pan had to be dug as per his request. He also added onto the job a secondary driveway with blue chip and bender board as per his request. Which drove the cost up for the original estimate and contract that was agreed on by Pat.
